Nicole Kidman is finally talking about her marriage to Tom Cruise—15 years after their split.
The actress, now married to Keith Urban, was only 23 when she married Tom, and says now at 49, she looks back in shock at how young she was.
The two also adopted two children, Isabella and Connor together, who remained with Tom following the divorce.
She compared herself to Taylor Swift, saying, “’You look at Taylor Swift, I mean how old is she? She's 26. I had two kids by the time I was 27 and I'd been married for four years. But that's what I wanted.”
Nicole, who lives in her home country of Australia with her family, married Tom in 1990. The two were a power couple in Hollywood until they divorced in 2001. The next year, when she won a best actress Oscar for her role in The Hours, she says she was at her lowest.
“[The divorce] culminated in winning an Oscar and that caused an epiphany which was, ‘This isn't the answer,’” she said. “I was holding a gold statue and I was the loneliest I'd ever been.”
Things have improved for the statuesque beauty. She’s celebrating her 10th anniversary with Keith, whom she wed in 2006.
“We've been through a lot for 10 years. And we're stronger than ever,” she says. “I say that while touching wood, and no way in a boastful way. I just say it with wonder. Absolute wonder.”
Nicole and the country singer have two daughters together, Sunday Rose, 8, and six-year-old Faith Margaret.
