Olympic Rugby Star Gets Engaged To Girlfriend At Medal Ceremony

Brazil lost, but love wins.

There was a sweet marriage proposal at Monday night’s Olympic games

Brazil’s rugby star Isadora Cerullo said yes to girlfriend Marjorie Enya, who proposed on the pitch at Deodoro Stadium.

Marjorie, a 28-year-old manager at the stadium, hugged her girl to loud applause and gave a short speech to the crowd.

“As soon as I knew she was in the squad I thought I have to make this special,” Marjorie told the BBC. “I know rugby people are amazing and they would embrace it.”

The two have been dating for two years, with Marjorie calling Isadora, 25, “the love of my life.” They live in Sao Paulo, where Isadora, who has dual US citizenship, took up residency to practice on making Brazil’s team.

“The Olympic Games can look like closure but, for me, it's starting a new life with someone,” Isadora said. “I wanted to show people that love wins.”

The Brazilian women’s rugby sevens team came in ninth-place.
