On TV, mountains are often portrayed as a peaceful place to escape, or an exhilarating spot to ski, or a majestic backdrop to scream about threesomes.
But for Quandary “Q” Lotus Lady: Adventure Cat, they’re just an everyday walk in the woods. The Colorado native has made a name for herself—locally and beyond—as an exploration cat who is happiest when hiking up the meowtains and snuggling down in yurts.
Q, a one-and-a-half year old rescue from Colorado Springs, enjoys the outdoors on a leash or while being carried by her owners, Erin and Graham Shuee. The avid feline hiker gets back to nature at least once a week, clawing her way to some of the most spectacular spots in Colorado.
“She draws your attention to things you’d never look at otherwise,” Erin told 9 News Denver. “She reminds you to slow down and take your hike at a different pace instead of just rushing to the summit.” (Is this reminding anyone else of the Cat Yoga ethos?)
Q was an integral part of Graham’s proposal to Erin—which took place in the mountains—and was even the flower girl in their ensuing wedding—which took place in the mountains. (We have an inkling this is something of an outdoorsy family.)
Q’s adventures are fun to follow, but more importantly, she’s sending a message: “One of the main reasons we like to share our adventures is to expand people's perception of what being a cat owner means,” the Shuees wrote on Q’s Instagram. “We want to inspire a new norm. Cats aren't limited to anything! Let's increase adoption rates of rescue kitties! Out of cages and on to leashes!”
