An unusual new hookah bar and cocktail lounge called Puff is about to open this summer, and the celebrity behind it may come as a surprise. Puff, which will be serving "organic hookah" and what looks to be a hypnotically colorful array of drinks and bites when it opens in Atlanta, is the brainchild of reality television star and R&B hitmaker K. Michelle, who has just returned to the VH1 show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. (That show has also spun-off K. Michelle: My Life, the star's own reality show.) With all that going on, K. Michelle somehow also found time to drop her well-received new album, More Issues Than Vogue, which Pitchfork calls "contemporary R&B at its best."
In an interview with New York radio station Hot 97, K. Michelle revealed that with Puff, she's creating a space that caters to a female clientele, with its flower wall, gold chandeliers and all-Motown soundtrack. "It's like a girl cave," she said. "It's just going to be a feel-good place."
The cocktail menu will feature 50 girlie drinks, including Captain Crunch martinis and M&M-laced freakshakes. According to Eater Atlanta, the sweet tipples will be balanced out with a menu of what Puff calls "soul food tapas" including lettuce cups and lobster corn dogs.
