Jennifer Lawrence has come a long way on the red carpet, from ingenue to Oscar winner. Fitting with her leading lady status, the Dior spokesmodel and Vogue September issue cover girl seems to be developing a signature style too. It involves plenty of black and glamorous shades of silver that play off her blonde locks — and lots of sheer fabrics. Need proof? Check out what J-Law's worn to premieres across the world for last year's Passengers and her new surreal horror art film Mother!, directed by her boyfriend Darren Aronofsky.
Jennifer looks like a glamorous mermaid washed ashore in this barely-there fishnet dress at Mother!'s premiere last week in London. The silver, figure-hugging gown is by Atelier Versace, and we're saying this is J-Law's version of J-Lo's famous Versace naked dress.
For the Paris premiere of Mother!, Jennifer went with another sheer gown from her go-to label Dior. The silver strapless dress has a classic Old Hollywood silhouette, which matches her vampy red lip and cateye makeup.
Another red carpet, another sheer dress. This Dior ballgown with floral appliques brought the drama at last week's Venice Film Festival. The top is giving us shades of Gwyneth Paltrow's infamous McQueen Oscar dress — although Jennifer's gown looks more like a fairytale.
There is a lot happening with the Dolce & Gabbana dress J-Law wore this week to the Toronto film festival. There's glitter, a lace-up corset with a giant bow, and yes, sheer accents. Her pretty Brigitte Bardot-inspired updo is much simpler.
5. New York
Jennifer's a Bravo superfan, so it makes sense that she would spend part of her holidays last year with Andy on Watch What Happens Live. She wore a shimmery, sheer skirt for the occasion with strappy sandals and a cut-out top, all in black.
During last year's press tour for Passengers, Jennifer actually wore a bright color instead of black or silver. Her strappy Dior gown is inexplicably decked out with a sparkly sword applique.
7. Westwood, CA
For the Passengers premiere in Los Angeles, J-Law went with this ethereal Dior gown in pure white with a tiny red heart on the bodice — it's the perfect dress for a modern bride. Look closely, and you guessed it, those floaty layers of tulle are sheer.
