If you're one of the millions who follows DJ Khaled on Snapchat, you're likely familiar with De'Bronya Hodges, the 27-year-old chef who has often been spotted mixing up something "they don't want you to have" for the music star in the kitchen.
Chef Dee, as she's best known, is currently staffing up for the forthcoming opening of Empty Plates, a restaurant extension of her five-year-old catering company of the same name that's expected to open in April in Miami's Little River neighborhood. Empty Plates' specialties include crab cakes, conch balls, mac and cheese, and international takes on soul food such as curry lobster and shrimp with cauliflower.
Dee isn't as seasoned a Snapper as DJ Khaled, but she still sometimes shares the secrets behind recipes like her broccoli and cheddar soup on her account.
"The key to a culinary career is to stay focused and not to worry about the competition," she told BET, echoing her most famous client. "There's a million people who do what you do, but you have to be confident in your craft."
