13 Things Every True Star Wars Fan Needs

The force is strong with these must-haves.

By Amanda Hawkins

A long time ago in a state not so far, far away, a young girl experienced Star Wars for the very first time. Elbow-deep in popcorn, it was John Williams’ iconic score in the opening crawl that caught her attention first, but it was the characters, storytelling and cinematography that made her a lifelong fan.

Okay, enough of that weird third person story telling. It’s me! I’m guilty of being a Star Wars fan. Even now, I still get chills when I watch Luke gaze into the distant skies of Tatooine and I cringe when I hear teenage Anakin complain about the coarse sands of the Outer Rim. (We get it, dude, sand is dry and coarse. So are your acting skills.)

To this day, I’ve given George Lucas enough money in the form of action figures and movie ticket sales to pay for a trip around the galaxy, but once I get through the end of this list he might get a few hundred more of my credits…

1. Gold Foil Art Print

There’s only one way to start a story about Star Wars, and that’s with the iconic first words of the films. A long time ago we fell in love with the galaxy and now we’ve fallen in love with this trendy typographic print. The quote itself is printed on high-quality thick 8- by 10-inch paper with gold foil stamping. It isn’t framed, but we think would look great with a crisp white border or a flashy gold frame.

2. R2-D2 & C-3PO Best Friends Necklace Set

There’s Han and Leia, there’s Rey and Finn, there’s even BB-8 and Poe! But there’s no friendship like the friendship between robotic BFFs Artoo and Threepio. Share the love with your Star Wars-loving BFF with this necklace set—especially if the two of you engage in the occasional argument. The heart-shaped necklace is double sided: The front is layered with the iconic duo while the back says “Best Friends” on each side. The 18 inch-long chains also come in a Lucasfilm-licensed jewelry box.

BUY FROM: Hot Topic, $8.40

3. Low-Cut Socks

These ankle socks come with a little surprise when your shoes are slipped off! The six pairs of socks are for all sides of the force as they’re adorned with cartoon drawings of good guys R2-D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca, and baddies Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a Stormtrooper.

4. Loungefly x Star Wars C3PO Mini Dome Bag Purse

We’re doomed—this purse is too adorable not to buy. The dome-shaped satchel is mini at just 9.5- by 8-inches , but it’s the perfect size for your basics like wallet, phone, keys and lightsaber. We like this purse for dangling on our arm, but it also comes equipped with a cross body strap for on-the-go. And if Threepio isn’t your guy, Loungefly also sells versions with Darth Vader, BB-8, R2-D2 and more.

BUY FROM: Amazon, $68

5. AT-ACT Sun Walk Scarf

Worn around your neck, you would barely know this is a Star Wars-themed scarf—but you’ll know, and that's all that really matters, right? The lightweight viscose polyester is slightly see through, so as Thinkgeek suggests, the scarf is a comfortable neck accessory for your everyday looks or it can be saved for warmer weather as your go-to beach sarong. In fact, it’s the perfect beach companion as the AT-ACTs can walk on the sand with ease.

6. BB-8 Mug

If it looks like BB-8 and can roll around like BB-8, is it a BB-8? Not exactly, but this adorbs coffee mug is as close to the real thing as we can get right now. The ceramic mug holds 16 ounces of coffee or blue milk.

BUY FROM: Think Geek, SALE $4.99 (Regularly $24, 80% Off!)

7. Zak! Designs Dessert Bowls

Love these bowls, you will. The dishes are BPA-free, dishwasher and microwave safe, and are a subtle nod to the Star Wars universe. The set of four are adorned with our original movie faves from both the Dark and Light Side: Leia and R2-D2, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper. We personally love the ice cream bowls, but you can decided for yourself as the entire range consists of appetizer plates, soup bowls, coffee mugs and pint glasses.

BUY FROM: Amazon, $15.99

8. I Love You Print

Did you know? One of Star Wars’ most famous lines was actually ad-libbed. Instead of simply repeating, “I love you, too” back to Leia when Han Solo was lowered into Carbonite, Solo replies with a suave “I know.” God, Han Solo was cool.

Repeat that fun fact after you frame and hang this 11- by 14-inch print. It’s printed on professional quality paper that is said to last 100 years—much, much longer than Hans spent frozen in Carbonite.

BUY FROM: Amazon, $25

9. 1977 Retro T-Shirt

If you’re looking for a cool way to publicize your love of Star Wars without donning a tacky tee, may we suggest something vintage-inspired? Fifth Sun Tees created this graphic crew neck as a nod to the original films that debuted in the '70s. Although the red, yellow and blue logo has little to do with the film, the font is spot on Star Wars. The men’s shirt will fit slightly baggy so we suggest ordering a size down for that tight vintage look.

BUY FROM: Fifth Sun, $22

10. Helmet Series Pins

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: If you haven’t purchased a pin for 2017, then it’s time to hop on this trend. Now. There’s a plethora of vintage and new Star Wars pins in the world, but we’re partial to these Day of the Dead Filigree options from Disney. There's a Stormtrooper and Darth Vader, but we're kind of obsessed with Boba Fett. His original role might have been small but he holds a big place in our hearts… which is exactly where we’ll be wearing this enameled cloisonné number.

BUY FROM: Amazon, $8.95

11. Mini Pouch

Pow! Wham! This nylon coin purse is adorned with some of our fave scenes in a cool comic book panel style. At 8-inches long, it’s the perfect travel companion for stashing your galactic credits or for carrying your precious beauty basics on your trip across the galaxy.

BUY FROM: Amazon, $14.88

12. Leia the Riveter iPhone Case

For many, Leia was one of the first strong female characters portrayed in popular media that didn’t rely on a man. Rosie the Riveter portrayed the same fierce independence, making this phone case doubly important. And there has never been a better time to show your loyalty to The Resistance. (And we aren’t talking about our current political landscape… or are we?) The clip-on case comes in one piece, is shatterproof and fits all versions of the iPhone.

BUY FROM: Redbubble, $25

13. Death Trooper Mini Dome Vegan Leather Bag

When you’re fighting the Empire you need to do so in style. This dome-shaped bag is large enough for a tablet or e-reader, and will also fit your other essentials. (As Thinkgeek says, your blaster probably won’t fit, so, um, sorry in advance.) Other details: It’s equipped with 3-inch drop handles so it’ll fit comfortably on your wrist and in your hand, chrome feet on the bottom ensure the material won’t scuff and a double zipper allows for easy access.

And, if you’re conscious about what you wear, the purse itself is simulated matte leather, but totally vegan. The best part? The bag is a subtle nod to our Star Wars love that will still fit in perfectly with our all-black wardrobes.

BUY FROM: Think Geek, $69.99
