Star Wars Villains Are Now Topping The List Of Trendy Baby Names

Forget Mike, Joe, and John.

Pop culture is affecting parents’ choices of names for their babies, new research shows.

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), there was a surge in names for boys based on Star Wars—Kylo, specifically. Kylo Ren is the latest episode’s villain, but moms and dads love the name.

The Rocky influenced movie Creed also was a major influence for parents, with both Creed and Adonis topping the list of names for boys.

Benicio, as in Benicio Del Toro, means “blessed” in Spanish, and made the list too.

Both boys and girls were recipients of the name Fox last year, as in the wild animal. Other names rounding out the list were Shepherd, Wilder, and Zayn.

Trendy girl names topping the list included Kehlani, Royalty, Saoirse, Ophelia, and Aitana, the name of a mountain in Spain.
