Think It’s Impossible to Find Thanksgiving Décor That’s Classy? Think Again

Yes, you can embrace the autumn spirit without surrendering your sense of style.

By Mitra Sorrells

Fall is one of my favorite seasons — the cool weather, colorful landscapes, football, everything pumpkin, and, of course, Thanksgiving! I want to savor every moment of it and certainly don’t want to jump prematurely into a winter mindset. My mom was the same way. Every year in September she pulled out her big bin of fall décor and placed pieces around our house: a stuffed scarecrow on the front porch, a small ceramic pumpkin in the guest bathroom, a scattering of pinecones on the dining room table.

As an adult, I’ve enjoyed replicating that tradition. But it’s been challenging to find attractive fall-themed items that suit my taste. Don’t get me wrong, my home is very casual — it’s no Million Dollar Listing — but that doesn’t mean I want to put out cheap, plastic tchotchkes. If you’re feeling the same way, you’re in luck. We’ve rounded up a variety of decorative pieces that will have you celebrating the season without abandoning your design aesthetic. Some of these also make nice hostess gifts if you’ll be spending Thanksgiving at someone else’s house. Happy fall y’all!

1. Fall Gatherings Mantelpiece

Fireplace mantels aren’t just for Christmas décor. This 46-inch wide mantelpiece is brimming with foam berries, fossilized leaves, pine cones, feather, twigs, plastic fruit, and more.

2. Metallic Pinecone Candles

For a classier—and more durable—spin on pinecones, add these candles to your tablescape. They’re made of wax with a beautiful metallic finish and come in five subdued hues. The battery-operated flame looks remarkably real and has a timer that turns off after five hours.

3. MacKenzie-Childs Entryway Stacking Pumpkins

I love these beautiful painted pumpkins that suit any decor. At 38 inches tall, they are big enough to stand alone or to be used in a decorative grouping.

4. Montpelier Silk Fall Door Wreath

Welcome guests with this festive fall wreath on your front door. It’s made to withstand rain, wind, snow, and sun so it will last for many years. The 22-inch wreath is filled with mini pumpkins, gourds, pine cones, and silk foliage, all attached to a thick grapevine base, and it comes with a hanging loop.

5. Pumpkin Taper Candle Holder

Add a couple of these pumpkin-shaped candle holders to your Thanksgiving dinner table. At just five inches in diameter, they’ll still leave plenty of room for your turkey and sides!

6. Persimmon Taper Candles

And here are the perfect candles to put in that holder. They’re 10 inches tall and come in a set of six.

7. Small Metallic Pumpkins

This is a set of eight pumpkins, each three inches high and three inches in diameter. Use them to fill decorative bowls, add to floral arrangements, or scatter down a table runner.

8. Lighted Fall Garland

Bring the beauty of colorful maple leaves inside with this battery-operated garland. It’s more than eight feet long and made of bendable wire that can be wrapped around a banister or gathered in a bowl.

9. MacKenzie-Childs Autumn Harvest Turkey Candlestick

This is another attractive candlestick for your Thanksgiving table. It’s made of resin and is 4.25 inches tall.
