As I write this I am most definitely not wearing sandals. After four days of the NYC skies threatening rain to no avail, it's finally drizzling and I'm relegated to clunky Hunter rain boots. (Not that I'm complaining about this breezy 70 degree weather. You haven't suffered until you've walked to work in 95-degree heat paired with 99% humidity in skinny jeans. But I digress with my hashtag First World Problems.)
You know what I would rather be wearing in mid-July? Sandals. Pool slides, or simple mules, even a not-very-practical knee-high gladiator. Anything but these heavy green rubber monsters.
But alas, even though I can't currently rock my fave sandals, I can still shop for my next go-to pair! And since summer is practically over—did you know that this morning I got my first "get a sneak peek at our fall collection!" email and I rolled my eyes so hard I thought they were going to get stuck in the back of my skull?—that doesn’t mean I can’t shop for an inexpensive pair of sandals to last me a few more weeks. Yes, I have many more 85 degrees and under-boob sweat in my future. And, because of these 16 sandals on sale, I have many more days for my toes to see the sun, too.
1. Metallic Lace-Up Espadrille
Espadrilles are the shoe of the season, and they are even more "in" when they're in metallic gold. Plus, with an added lace-up ribbon that ties at the ankle, this sandal has three cute trends in one. But at the price of less than $40, you won’t feel bad about wearing these espadrilles for a few months before tossing them at the end of the year.
2. The Caren Slide Sandal in Suede
You can't get through 2017 without a simple slide. The best part about these mules? You can still find this sandal—on sale!—in whole sizes and half sizes 6 through 10. Plus, the midnight spruce color is a nice break from the black and brown sandals you see throughout the summer. The barely-there heel makes this the perfect everyday comfy sandal, but it’s still sleek enough to transition into hot nights out.
3. The Animato
Again, you can't get through the rest of summer without a flatform heel. Available in multiple hues, this leather sandal from one of our favorite shoe brands M. Gemi is equipped with a 2.75-inch cork platform accented with gold flecks. Pair these with your favorite skinny jeans for a chic everyday look, or save them for date nights with your favorite LBD.
4. KMB Studded Thong Sandals
This classic thong sandal gets an upgrade with an added studded element. Grab this pair in both pink and yellow leather for a pop of color on your toes.
5. Mystique Saturated Slide Sandals
Again, you can’t go wrong in 2017 with a simple slide. This Mystique slide from Anthro takes the trend a step beyond with a denim upper strap and added multi-color fringe in orange, pink, and purple.
6. Sun and Sandal
Look red hot in these rubber slingbacks. Because they’re on sale, they're the perfect sandal to add a pop of color to your wardrobe without breaking the bank. What’s more, these coral-colored slingbacks are 100% vegan and recyclable, so you can feel pretty good about rocking these. And, if you've never shopped with ModCloth before, sign up for emails for 20% off your first order for additional savings.
7. AEO Strappy Toe Ring Sandal
Sometimes you just need a simple gray sandal to get you through the day. We like these for the multiple straps and the added toe ring enclosure. Plus, they’re faux-leather, so if you’re looking for a non-leather sandal, these are great—and less than $15.
8. Jeffrey Campbell Fero-2 Heel
Need a new pair of strappy sandals for those impending summer weddings? Look no further than this minimalist black suede heel from Jeffrey Campbell. Not only are they sleek, but the 2.5-inch block heel and hook and loop closure will give you a comfy, secure fit. You won’t need to take these off for a night of dancing.
9. Jeffrey Campbell For UO Regalo Slide
These might not be the most everyday-friendly slides, but who says you can't buy something fun, cute, and ultra-feminine when they’re under $50—and at more than 60% off? Just don't wear these for too long or you might have quite the tan line from that oversized red bow.
10. Soludos Biarritz Gladiator Sandal
Remember that gladiator sandal I was mentioning? While I would never actually suggest a knee- or thigh-high sandal (think of the tanlines!) you can still rock a low-cut gladiator. Even better, this is two styles in one with the criss-cross gladiator-style weaving plus a trendy espadrille-esque sole. But grab these sandals now: no white after Labor Day!
11. JAMS WORLD Ono Multi Strap Thong Sandals
What seems simple in concept—a multi-strap thong—is actually much more compelling than you might think with a coral ombré color and criss-cross toe strap. These also come in blue if you’re anti-millennial pink.
12. Bare Traps Cherilyn Slide Flat Sandals
If you want the Birkenstock look without the Birkenstock price tag, go to Macy’s for these two-strap flat sandals. While they come in black and white, we prefer the surprising look of the cork version. Plus, because they are literally made of cork, these are the lightweight answer to your chunky sandal problems.
13. REEF Cushion Threads Flip-Flops
Hey! There's nothing wrong with a simple thong sandal. But instead of that popular $5 pair that I own 1000 colors in, I’m going to opt for something slightly more comfortable and long-lasting. The woven strap and simple sole makes the perfect beach and pool day sandal.
14. Nine West Innocent Embellished Evening Sandals
Some nights you just need a little sparkle. Whether you’re attending a black tie affair or you need a closet filler for that “just in case” event, these are the sandal to buy. Simple strap, simple heel, and a simple jewel—what more could you want? A cheap price? Done. At this price, buy them in both black and natural.
15. Cole Haan Anica Slide Sandal
If the gray-blue slide from Madewell was still a bit too trendy for you, you can still get your slide on with a simple black version from Cole Haan. At $90 you can also get them in silver, ivory, gold, and navy.
16. Steve Madden Inca
If you need something a little bit out there for your all black wardrobe, look no further than a multi-pattern heel from Steve Madden. Surprisingly, the leopard and floral patterns just work together. The wrap around strap will keep these 2-inch heels secure, but the block heel will make these easy to walk in any way. Yes, you only save 10 percent on these, but a sale's a sale! And these are too cool to not click "add to cart."
