Here Comes the Bride…All Dressed in HOLY CRAP HOW HUMONGOUS IS THAT CAT?

Are these the best wedding photos of all time? (Yes.)

You know that old wedding tradition, Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? One bride named Kiah Berkeley decided to switch it up a bit. Instead of following convention, she went with Something rescued, something cat, something orange, something fat.

Okay, maybe that’s not exactly what happened, but the bride and her groom, Peter Sorkin, did choose to prominently feature their protuberant feline in their wedding photos.

Vito is a 35-pound orange tabby who was surrendered to the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, D.C. when his then-owner couldn’t bring him to his new retirement home. The chubby kitty instantly gained viral internet fame (under his previous moniker Symba the Tubby Tabby)—and when Kiah and Peter saw him on the news, the big-hearted couple simply knew they had to adopt him and give him a better life.

“There were a bunch of news stories about him,” Kiah told Good Morning America after Vito’s adoption. “We love cats. My fiancé and I had two cats already. I have a particular affinity for very large animals and he obviously was a really sweet, loving guy.”

So when the couple recently got married, it was only natural that they decided to include Vito in their wedding photos. (They had wanted to include Vito in the ceremony, but they had a destination wedding, so the photographer snapped the pictures on a separate occasion.)

“We wished that we could've included him in our wedding because everybody loves him," Kiah told ABC News. "We love the pictures. As soon as we get the raw images back from [the photographer], we are going to blow a bunch up and hang them on the wall."

Since bringing Vito home, the couple has started the cat on a gentle weight loss regimen with a specific diet and manageable amounts of exercise—and he’s already shed some pounds. They continue to maintain his Facebook page so fans can follow his progress.
