Sorry, Disneyland — the happiest place on Earth is now Hoboken, New Jersey. No longer do the locals need to agonize over life’s most difficult question…tacos or pizza? Because the straight-up mad scientists/culinary angels at Tony Boloney’s have concocted a mind-boggling taco pizza that people are lining up for on (duh) Tuesdays. And not so surprisingly, we have stoners to thank for it.
When some teens with a raging case of munchies came into the pizza-and-sub joint randomly looking for tacos, the owner decided to get creative. And for the record, this is not the kind of taco pizza that’s really just a taco salad on a crust that people are trying really, really hard to pretend is worthy of respect on their Pinterest boards. This is next-level tacos ON pizza, people.
The 30-pound pie ($80 for the whole thing or $10 a slice) is the essence of a taco, topped with more tacos. The foundation of the pizza is carne asada chipotle mole and house-made queso Oaxaca (did we mention this is beyond legit?) on top of the dough. Then there are a bunch of actual tacos with different filling stacked around the outside rim of the pie—three per giant slice, to be specific. As if that weren’t enough, the center is filled in with guac and sour cream for dipping.
This mash-up masterpiece was invented a mere month ago, but Tony Boloney’s has already sent the taco pizzas on a private plane to the Bahamas and fielded 100 pre-orders per day this week alone. The cat’s certainly out of the bag on this secret-menu item. Is this moment the peak of mankind’s contribution to the universe? Quite possibly. More importantly, is it Tuesday yet?
