The twisted fame trifecta of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Taylor Swift continues to rotate round and round, each using each other to further their careers, making them even more money and providing the masses with endless entertainment.
Here’s the latest:
Kim is on the cover of the latest GQ—yes, of course she’s naked—where she doesn’t hold back about the ongoing feud between her husband and Taylor, which escalated when Kanye released his latest album, The Life of Pablo, where he raps about the singer.
“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous,” he yells.
About that line...Kanye swears he called Taylor up to ask her permission to use it, and she said sure, go ahead, why not, yup, rap away. But shortly after it was released in February, Saint Taylor pulled a fast one, and had her rep release a statement saying, “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.” Oooh.
The very next day, Taylor dissed Kanye in her Grammy acceptance speech, telling little girls everywhere he is a bad bad man who calls women terrible names over a beat.
“I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments, or your fame…” (Talking to you, Kanye.)
This whole thing, a real actual problem for celebrities, got Kim all pulling out her hoops ready to throw down with Taylor. (Who would win? Both so girly, but both go to the gym. Taylor is tall, so she can probably kick pretty well. Plus, she tours and sings and dances a lot, so she’s got stamina. Kim looks like she’d be a hair puller, but fighting dirty could give her the advantage. So it's hard to say.)
Back to what Kim told GQ.
“She totally approved that [song],” Kim says. “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn't. I swear, my husband gets so much s**t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved.”
She goes on.
“[Taylor] totally gave the okay. Rick Rubin was there,” Kim says. “So many respected people in the music business heard that [conversation] and knew. I mean, he's called me a bitch in his songs. That's just, like, what they say. I never once think,[gasping] ‘What a derogatory word! How dare he?’ Not in a million years. I don't know why she just, you know, flipped all of a sudden.… It was funny because [on the call with Kanye, Taylor] said, ‘When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I'm so against this, and I'll just laugh and say, ‘The joke's on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.’ And I'm like, wait, but [in] your Grammy speech, you completely dissed my husband just to play the victim again.”
Then Kim claims that when Kayne told Taylor he recorded the call, because much like the Kardashians, he apparently records every detail of his life, she lawyered up and sent a letter threatening to “Don't ever let that footage come out of me saying that. Destroy it.”
And now Taylor’s publicist is getting catty too. In response to Kim’s defense of her hubby, Taylor’s rep sent a statement, which builds and builds until the end, which if you make it there, is the ultimate payoff.
“Taylor does not hold anything against Kim Kardashian as she recognizes the pressure Kim must be under and that she is only repeating what she has been told by Kanye West. However, that does not change the fact that much of what Kim is saying is incorrect. Kanye West and Taylor only spoke once on the phone while she was on vacation with her family in January of 2016 and they have never spoken since. Taylor has never denied that conversation took place. It was on that phone call that Kanye West also asked her to release the song on her Twitter account, which she declined to do. Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term ‘that bitch’ in referencing her. A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift. Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated. Kim Kardashian's claim that Taylor and her team were aware of being recorded is not true, and Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.”
You hear that Kimye? Leave Taylor alone!
Your turn Kanye.
