5 Reasons You Can't Miss 'Thicker Than Water'

The Tankard clan comes to Bravo November 10th at 9/8c.

By Camille Beckles

Bravo’s new docu-series Thicker Than Water follows Ben and Jewel Tankard as they navigate life in their blended family and merge their strong religious conviction with their taste for the finer things in life. Despite the fact that all the kids are grown up, everyone still lives under one roof, which is bound to cause some drama. Here are just 5 reasons you can’t miss it.

1. Their Family Comes First
The Tankards are the self-proclaimed “Black Brady Bunch,” and they stick together the way you might expect. When youngest daughter Cyrene’s prom date arrives at the Tankard home to pick her up, Ben gathers the men in the family to remind him he'll be roughed up should he take prom night too far.

2. They Coordinate Their Wardrobes
Like any family, the Tankards have their fair share of disagreements. But one thing they agree upon: matching family outfits, especially when they play...croquet!

3. They Fly Private!
Bravolebs are no stranger to decadence, and the Tankards certainly fall into that category. They believe that God intended for them to be wealthy, and they’re living as such. Sure, they've got a fabulous mansion (“The Tankard Palace”) and the “his and hers” Mercedeses, what really tips the scale of Bravolebrity fabulousness is the family’s private jet. Where most couples might go car shopping, Ben and Jewel prefer to shop for aircrafts instead. After all, according to Ben, “there are no ghettos in heaven.”

4. There Plenty of Sibling Rivalry
The premiere episode of Thicker Than Water finds Cyrene Tankard, Ben and Jewel’s youngest daughter, getting ready for prom. This would normally be a happy event, except Brooklyn, Ben’s oldest daughter, is running a half marathon the same day. In a tug-of-war over who would get the family’s support at their event, Brooklyn revealed in a heartfelt moment that she doesn’t feel like her father has looked out for her the same way he has for Cyrene. So who ends up cheering on Brooklyn and who ends up getting Cyrene ready for the big day? You'll have to tune in to watch.

5. The Tankards Are Hilarious
Speaking of marathons, Brooklyn's attempt at running one of the first episode's most hilarious moments. Aside from her forgetting to register for the event, she admits it’s hard to run a race in the rain with a “large bosom and large weave.”
