Alex McCord is used to running the show in Brooklyn, and now she's taking that attitude abroad. The Real Housewives of New York City star announced this week that she's serving as president of the newly created brand Aluxe Home, which includes 18 lines of bathroom towels and 24 different bedding selections – all made of 100 percent Egyptian Cotton and manufactured in Egypt.
Just weeks ago, Alex and husband Simon visited the pyramids but didn't bring along their two young sons, Johan and François. Now it looks like the trip might have been more business than pleasure. "This new venture was cemented when we visited and inspected the factory last month to ensure that we were happy with its quality, professionalism and working standards for its employees," Alex said in a press release.
And RHONY fans are already looking forward to wrapping themselves in Alex's sheets when the lines become available for wholesale customers this September. @elaine_griffin tweeted, "Cannot WAIT to get my hands of @SimonvanKempen & @mccordalex's new line of bedding & bath, #Aluxe in Sept!!" Miami Housewife Lea Black also offered her congrats via Twitter, telling her followers, "ck it out tweetmates."
Forever by his wife's side, Simon will lend his professional hotelier expertise when Aluxe Home's Hotel Collection launches in fall 2012.

Alex and Simon - I know your products will only be of the highest and most ethical standards. Congratulations.
Alex why go to Egypt to have your linens made? Why not have an AMERICAN company make them? I guess some people are more about the money than about helping to rebuild the AMERICAN economy.
Hi Alex/Simon
I think you both are great and very good parents. I can't wait to see what you are bringing, I need new bedding and now that I know you have something, I'll wait for it.
You both are the best, thanks for being
Alex, it would have been very American of you to have your products made right here in the USA. After all unemployment is at its highest. What we NEED is for the manufacturing jobs to originate and stay here in OUR country. I'm sort of surprised at you, O would have thought you would support american labor.
Many congratulations Alex. It will be fantastic to experience your line at home and hopefully at luxury hotels! Best wishes for every success with this venture for you and Simon.
One question before I consider to buy your product. Are you manufacturing this product line in the United States?
Congratulations, Alex! I am anxious to check out your towels and sheets. Please keep us posted. Thanks. ;-gabinthebox
Hi Alex, Just wanted to say how happy I am for you. love you on the show. don't let the "Countless " get the best of you she is so phony, rude and she wants to get you off the show. Love you and your family on the show. Good luck with your new line.
Hi Alex, Just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you. You and Simon deserve to have some good luck. I hope your line is very successful. Watch the "Countless" she wants to get you off the show. She is so rude, phony and has absouletly no class. Between her and Jill they are two peas in a pod. I can't stand either one of them. Watch out for Sonya she is not your friend either. Love, Love you.
Luv, luv, luv, products made from Egyptian cotton! So glad you and Simon checked out the conditions in which Aluxe products are manufactured--luv the way you do business! Can't wait to have these products for my home, and for my guests to use.
Congratulations Alex & Simon. You look lovely in the photo. Ignore the haters' comments when they are able to locate an American company who is willing to pay American workers competitive wages that they can live comfortably on then listen otherwise it is all white noise. I love Egyptian cotton and will definitely buy from the Aluxe Home line. Peace & Love!
Good thing you found something else to occupy yourself besides butting into the rest of the cast's situations. Now you can finally mind your own business!
Oddly, you've claimed to always support local designers and local artists. Yet, you cavorted across the world to give your business to Egypt. I guess American workers can no longer count on your continued support...
I like them, both of them. They are refreshing, spicy, unpretentious, and a great couple. I can't wait to buy their products.
I wish Alex the best of luck. The products are made from Egyptian cotton and as this is a start up, I would guess that the cost of shipping the raw materials and getting the workers and factory here may be too costly right now. Maybe when the product takes off, she will look to moving the manufacturing here. People are always going after the little guy who is just trying to start a business. It may even be quite likley that American Banks may not be willing to provide start up money as they don't seem interested in lending. SBA has its own set of issues. Who knows what the business relationship is with her and the Egyptian suppliers, but it is probably better than the lenders here will give her. She will be providing American jobs for the import, shipping and handling of the product. Just wish her luck and don't try to shift the blame for unemployment to her. She did not cost the job loss, she is just trying to feed her family.
Alex, So happy for you. go for it, these naysayers probably have nothing in their homes that did'nt come from China. You will be providing job, so thanks.
First off I want to say that I enjoy the true-to-self and free-will life style that Simon and you live. You stand true to your convictions and that's admirable. The two of you are about the only reason I continue to watch RH of NY. Can't gag the artificial LuAnn nor the lunatic Kelly. Simon is always good for a chuckle! Hope you can continue to stay for another season while pursuing your new business. I'm sure your haters are oblivious to how many items in their home are made in China. Shame on them for spouting off. I will definitely be watching for the Aluxe line for my home! Thanks!

Congratulations, Alex! I'm waiting for the towels. Hope you'll have a bathsheet included in that line! Love Egyptian cotton! Would rather buy yours and support your brand than another one in the store that I have no connection to.
