Fashion Show, season 1, week 6 winner
July 16, 2009 - - Final three
What were you thinking!!!! YIKES - - Your final three are not the designers that an everyday women would turn to for style/fashion. James-Paul's designs would serve the year 2109 best.
I just want to know how to get on the show?
Hi, I am desperatly trying to get my husband on your show. He is so skilled and talented and loves to sew. He loves to do Womans designs and has a little shop here in Atlanta GA. He does custom designs and always express his interest in getting on your show. He eats, sleeps and dreams fashion. Help me please!!! I need information on how to get him there.
Hi Issac ~ I think you're wonderfully talented in many avenues! It has taken me years to decide on which of my creative talents to focal on. Sewing and dressmaking makes me feel good. It also brings me a lot of peace doing something that my Grandmother made her living doing. I remember how many people she touched through sewing, and of course made more beautiful.
What would you suggest to be the best way to break into the field; improve my sewing skills? Is there a particular school to attend that is better than the other? I'm 44 years old and don't have much money after putting my children through school. I'm a natural artist and I learn new things easily.
Thank you very much Issac. You're truly a blessing to all of us! xo
Hello, design icon!
The winning outfit of last night's (Episode 7) competition baffles me. I understand that the challenge was to get inspired by your Mood Board, but the finished outfit looked random to me in terms of prints clashing and colors not complementing one another. The stripes were all that seemed in common, but that's a reach. The heavy wooden design element on the shirt was too big and made a chaotic look even more confusing got me. The coat was great. So were the culottes - alone.
Would you please explain to me why this was a winning ensemble? I've got a long way to go in terms of understanding color, so any enlightment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Adore the show. As being someone who loves and is addicted to handbags, how increditable would it be to have a challenge to create a handbag . Heck why not a whole show or the next It handbag designer.
I clicked on this link to read from Issac, and nothing. I went to the shop link to check out the clothes they say are for sale every week on the show, and nothing. Why is nothing completed as stated? I wouldn't run a business like this.
Hi Isaac,
I absolutely LOVE U, UR DESIGNS AND THE SHOW! ..and I need desperate help! I need a fashion consultation and a major makeover!! HELP?! =)
xoxoxo
I agree 100% with Marian Ct. I made mine her words. They are exactly what I was going to say. I admire you so much Isaac.
Hi Sir. I am only 5'2 and 120 pounds and turning 42 this year. Yikes! Anyhow, what is in for the over 40 and on the shorter side.
Thank you for your time.
Hey Isaac,
Recently had a conversation with my sister about leather skirts. We are both in our early 50's and I said that a simple black leather skirt that falls right above or right below my knee is appropriate for our age. We are both size 6. I recommended wearing the skirt with either boots or leggings, as to not look too young. Agree or not?
Thanks,
Melanie
Kelly Rowland has no fashion creds; she speaks to the contestants in a superior tone, as if she were a prison guard; unacceptable!
Hello!
I am a fashion LOVER. I especially love your designs. I was watching T.V. the other day, and I saw a movie based on you and your story. I didn't get to watch it, I just read the information about it. It was on Ovation T.V.
Anyway, I was wondering what the one piece of advice or insider secret you would give to somebody who wants to break into the industry. I want to open a clothing store, and then become an independent designer with my own creations. Your answer would be greatly appreciated!!
Merci beaucoup!
Another Fashion Lover Named Isaac
EXCUSE ME! A number of us have been asking questions. Is anyone going to respond! What is the point of Ask Isaac if Isaac or staff do not answer. Am I missing something????????????
what was the name of the style of jacket that Merlin did in episode 5: Shape shifters?
Hi Isaac,
Who is Kelly Rowland?? She is certainly not someone any of us know! What makes her a fashion expert etc.??? She dresses nicely probably because she is wearing some of your own designs, but PLEASE don't insult the average viewer by using someone like her to TRY and add some authenticity to the show, it does not work at all! Why not use some well known fashion model that we have all seen and know that they have some fashion sense of their own.
Isaac!
I would like to know why we cannot buy Merlin's "Mean Girl" sweater? I would really love to have it! Let me know! Thanks
Sincerely, a very big fan
Here is a comment:
Maya Angelou says "when someone tells you who they are, believe them". She is right . . . you yourself said out of your own mouth that you were a "judge" in high school and you are one now on the Fashion Show. I think the way you and Kelly ambushed the asian girl was inexcusable. Did she have access to google? The audience doesn't know if she can google "b-girl". I am a designer and every designer should at least be able to google. We as the audience don't know if she has the ability to educate herself a little and so we are left to believe that she cannot and then to accuse her of being a liar----that is just bad taste baby. What does Kelly know about fashion anyway? She's always the sidekick whether its you or Beyonce. And so to legitimize her credibility as a "fashion judge" (she isn't) she said she was PERSONALLY offended by the B-girl interpretation?!?! Well, I am personally offended for the Asian girl who was a deer caught in the headlights and you all slaughtered her for the sake of ratings?!?! Shame on you and Kelly! MENTOR her, HELP her . . . you both saw the original concept and said NOTHING!!! I reran the tape of you and Kelly at the initial stages . . . Kelly was leary but she said NOTHING! And then, to humiliate her for the sake of ratings . . . you are a failure. You failed with your own line, failed on your talk show, failed at target, now this show . . . maybe when you learn to be kind and helpful and STOP being the "mean girl JUDGEY Judgerton" just for the sake of money . . . . some decent Karma will finally roll your way!!! Todd
Hi Isaac,
Did you design Kelly's corset dress in monochromatic in ivory and is knee length. The dress she has on in the beignning of the show. Its a beautiful dress. If u didn't design it, do u know who is the designer? GORGEOUS!!!
Issac!
What a hypocrite; one of the last shows you state that Andrew missed the mark while designing a nice-looking dress and slammed him when he said that he designed with sales in mind; your response was, "This is the Fashion Show not a department store, you should be presenting something outrageous...," then in the last episode, Johnny designs this hideous jock outfit and you say that sales are important in fashion or else who would drive the industry. I think sales are always important, or else why would you or any of us have a job. I think you were wrong about Andrew, I could have seen his dress at Macy's or McCall's and he was right to say that it would have sold. It was a poor choice of words in Andrew's elimination and should have been realized when Johnny and Angel were up for elimination. Thanks for listening to my opinion.

What is Hip Hop attire? I just watched the episode, and did not agree at all with the criticism, I have no idea what they wear to do hip hop and do not believe it is as mainstream as it was portrayed to be on the show. Here in the real world, a LOT of people don't know what hip hop people wear. I'm not even sure what hip hop is except for some type of music that I have never listened to. I think you were off the mark with your comments.
I have cancer(in remision)and have been losing weight. This is a good thing but I am left with a pouchy lower abs that I have a hard time hiding unless I wear loose long tunics which I feel is not appropriate for my age(51)plus I feel like I am back in maternity wear.I still have about 35 pounds to lose qm 5 ft/4 in,ahort waisted,36c/d,and wear about a 14-16 depending on who made it.I am on a budget but want to look good cause honey life is too short and I wanna feel great!!May get a tummy tuck someday but not enough money now.Can you suggest a wardrobe that will help me look great.I am thinking more casual styles with some suggestions for a nice dress or 2 for weddings, parties. Thanks .PS..I have always loved your designs and have been following you thru your many shows and even the documentary about you.You are down to earth and I love your Mom.I hope this show is going to last for years!! Hugs and kisses!
I would like to know why Target quit carrying your clothes? I loved your pants that they sold. They were the only slacks I have ever found that fit me right. Please let me know where I can find them now. Thank you.
I love the clothes that Fern wears on the show, please share the designers she enjoys wearing.
Thanks for your help!
I always read about stuff dressing for pear-shaped girls. Problem is I'm top-heavy with thick arms, medium-large bust (about 36 C) and small hips (about 35") which makes me even look more top heavy. And to make it worse, my frame is on the small side. So my forearms are really skinny but my upper arms are like ham hocks. My arms are the size of an obese woman, but the rest of my body is the size of an average-sized woman (size 4-6). How do I balance my chunky arms? I try to wear very stream-lined clothing on top but it's kind of hard to find them these days with all the ruffles and frills you see around these days. You might as well put me out to pasture if you have me wear cap sleeves. Sometimes sleeveless works better than sleeves, but it still doesn't look that great on me. I think that flared sleeves 3/4 length look best on me. It's not as bad during the winter and fall, but I'm finding trouble finding cuts that work well with my body during the warmer months. Losing weight and toning up won't help that much. In my teens, I used to weigh close to 100 lbs at 5'5" and still had fat arms. Please help!
My days of wearing those wonderful-for-the-leg heels are long gone!
However, I found and bought the MOST comfy shoe ... Rieker Anti-Stress Anke - and it's a 1-1/2" sling-back ... and the compliments I continually receive make the shoes even more comfortable!!!
I have 2 pairs each of black, beige, red. If they had a white pair I'd have those, too!
You are AMAZING! all-around...however, i have a question: What is Ms. Rowland doing on the show? what is, or has been her contribution to the world of fashion? You are an icon, but her...i just DO NOT get it.
You are amazing. All the best to you Monsieur Mizrahi!
Sincerely,
Isidoro
Hi Isaac,
I had an ankle injury a few years back and can't really wear heels. It sucks to wear flats because I'm short. Are there any other types of shows you can think of aside from wedges, that would look cool to wear out? Thanks.
Hi Isaac,
I love love love you. Ok, now for a little background and my question. I used to be very very thin, b/c I was an athlete. I got a really bad injury and had to undergo surgery, and now I can't work out. Due to that, I have gained body fat and some weight. I hate dressing up now, because I never feel comfortable in anything. I am probably a size 6 now, and used to be a 2. What can I wear when I go out to clubs and bars?
Hey. I wnat one of those cool metal boxes that says "the Fashion Show on it. Can we at least see what they look like inside? and can we buy them, if not from "The Fashion Show"--from anywhere?
I work with a beautiful lady name Anne Chiafair she would be perfect for your show ! Give you a call dare you to figure out her age !
I am 5'6 1/2 and weigh 170 lbs. I have long legs and am short waisted. I am a size 36 C and would like to know what styles I can wear to make me look fabulous. Oh I forgot to mention, I also have a muffin top when I put pants on.PULLLEAZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
