The Real Housewives of New York City's Aviva Drescher has never let the loss of her leg slow her down, and now she's giving back to others who have gone through similar tragedy.

This past weekend, Aviva traveled to Boston along with the Challenged Athletes Foundation to present her friend Heather Abbot—one of the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings—with her first prosthetic running leg (see photo above). Aviva then ran alongside many of the survivors of the April tragedy as part of a clinic put together by the Foundation to teach the victims and other amputees how to run and do other feats of athleticism with prosthetics.

"Seeing many marathon survivors run this past weekend, many for the first time since the April 15 tragedy, proved that evil did not prevail," Aviva tells the Dish. Heather Abbott told The Associated Press "I'm trying to do all the things I used to do."

It's a sentiment Aviva, who is on the cover of the latest issue of Women's Running magazine, certainly understands. "Until the age of 26, I couldn’t really run much because I had an awkward amputation at the ankle,” she told the magazine. “I had another amputation at the knee and then I was able to run again, using the right prosthesis…Running is a really great time just for myself to get away from it all.'”
