Who's ready for seconds? After the monster success of her Skinnygirl margarita, Bethenny Frankel announced on her website, "We are so excited that the next cocktail from the Skinnygirl line has arrived, Skinnygirl Sangria. Skinnygirl Sangria will be available in most markets by the end of July and all markets by the end of August. It is smooth and fruity without being overly sweet. Thank you for your patience as we build distribution on sangria. I can't wait for you to try it!"
Thirsty yet? The liquor tycoon then added on Twitter, "Did we mention its WHITE Sangria? Perfect for the summer when you're wearing a cute white outfit, no mess! :)"
Bethenny's beverage empire may be expanding and exploding today, but once upon a time, the little drink that could was just an idea no one wanted to hear. "I came up with the idea for the Skinnygirl margarita, a low-calorie cocktail, in my kitchen. I thought, Everybody wants to have a margarita, and nobody wants to feel guilty about it," the Bethenny Ever After star writes in this month's issue of Inc. magazine. "All the big liquor companies turned me down. Publicists wouldn't even come with me to the meetings because they didn't take it seriously. So I would go alone and sit in boardrooms with people who probably just thought I had a silly little idea. They didn't see what I saw."
Over $100 million later, Bethenny's earned the last laugh. "Once in a while, you see a person who used to treat you like a dog, because you were nobody and they were somebody. You get a little giggle, and you really love it," she continues. "But it's more about looking to women and saying, 'Look at what you can do.' I took one little acorn of an idea, and when people said, 'No, no, no,' I said, 'Yes, yes, yes.'"
