How Caroline Manzo's sister helped save 21 abused dogs.

When Frannie Laurita—Caroline Manzo's sister—visited the Watch What Happens Live Clubhouse recently, she wore a t-shirt that read, "Be Kind to Animals—or I'll Kill You."

She's not kidding—except about the killing part—and earlier this week, Frannie (second from left, above) helped save a group of 21 pitbulls after authorities busted inhabitants of a home in Paterson, New Jersey and discovered a dogfighting ring, the largest one in the city's history.

Frannie, who is a volunteer at the local animal shelter that's treating the rescued animals, spoke with a local news outlet about the discovery—and how she's helping the dogs get a second chance. Referring to one animal who was horrifically abused, she says, "He was never handled kindly by a human, if at all." The helpless animals were discovered housed in stacks of crates in the basement of the home.

There's a happy ending to this sad tale. Frannie says "not only are [the dogs] salvageable, but they're extra special dogs. These are dogs that have seen the worst, unspeakable cruelty, and are immediately giving us love and trust."

"They're just dogs," she adds. "They deserve the same love and same respect as any other dog, the same chance."

Dina Manzo was quick to show her concern for the animals on on Twitter, but Frannie adds, "They are ALL safe now!"
