Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley have spoken fairly openly about the health of Slade's son in the past, but recently, the Real Housewives of Orange County duo have been mum on the topic for the most part. In a new interview, Gretchen explains that the silence is because Slade's 12-year-old Grayson has been in recovering from brain surgery to treat his recurring cancer.
"I’ve had some tough circumstances going on lately," Gretchen reveals in an interview with StarPulse. "Slade’s youngest son Grayson went in for major brain surgery in New York and had some big complications. He was in ICU for three months and only just now is being moved to a different facility. There has been lots of bi-coastal traveling, worry and emotion on both Slade and my parts for his son. On top of that, I’ve had some issues with a court case that has been going on for the last four years, but I won and am thankful to have that wrapped up."
It's not the first time that Gretchen has opened up on the subject. In fact, she wrote her song "Unbreakable" about Grayson and his relationship with Slade. In June, she told The Dish that the song came about when "one afternoon he was singing to his dad about the pain he was going through, but he was still so happy and upbeat and it inspired me to write a song about being unbreakable no matter what life throws you." Listen to the song:
Gretchen also says in the StarPulse interview that she and Slade have discussed having a baby together, and that "babies are definitely a point of discussion for both of us as eventually we would love to have a family."
