Last weekend the Million Dollar Listing New York star landed at the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere his role in Noah Baumbach's While We're Young. And while the part has garnered him positive reviews for his acting skills, the former As The World Turns actor-turned-real estate mogul is not quite ready to leave Manhattan's bustling real estate scene for La La Land.

"People spend a long time trying to find a job that they like," he tells the Real Deal. "I think I have just lucked out that I get to do something that I really, really love. He adds that he's "never experienced anything like" the attention he's received since the movie was screened last week.

He noted that while he has two more TV gigs on the horizon, he hopes to leverage the attention he's received from it not to further his acting career, but to grow his real estate business.

"At the end of the day, if you take away the shows and all that stuff, I make money when my clients are happy and they buy or sell property," he says. "No one's paying me to wear shoes. There're no endorsement deals."

In While We We're Young, Ryan plays a hedge fund manager. The buzzy film also stars Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Adam Horowitz (aka Beastie Boys rapper Ad-Rock), Amanda Seyfried and "Girls" actor Adam Driver. A wide release date has yet to be announced.

Ryan opened up a bit more about his part in the Baumbach film on social media after the film's Toronto premiere.

"My road to the movies was not the normal one," he shared. "I left the acting business to get into real estate, only to find my way back to TV via MDLNY and now onto the big screen. And while my career path seems far from normal, to me it was the only road to take. You see, I knew who I wanted to be when I was 4 years old. I just didn't know how to get to that person. I didn't know I needed to fall in love with the real estate business and build one of top producing teams in the country. But I knew that if I stayed positive - if I worked hard - if I seized every opportunity - then everything I ever wanted would come true, and it has."
