The newcomer shares how her relationship with Josh has improved.

As a newcomer to Real Housewives of New York City Kristen Taekman was prepared to share with the world the inner-workings of her marriage to Josh Taekman—even the warts.

Over the course of the show, fans saw the couple struggle with raising children, keeping things intimate, and juggling their careers. But looking back now that the season has wrapped, Kristen wouldn't have it any other way.

"The show was wonderful therapy," she tells OK! magazine. She points out certain episodes that really showed the strain on the couple's relationship. "Remember the fight at the Spartan race? I watched it three times. The first time, I was like, 'My husband is such an a--hole! He left me! He's a jerk.' The second time I watched it, I was like, 'I'm such a p---y. What is my problem?' The third time, it was 50-50. I ruined my husband's day! So I have been using that. I'll pause and think, Okay, Kristen, you had a really s---y day. Don't take it out on Josh. I'm a complainer, so I know that now and I'm working on it."

While some fans may have been angered to see how Josh spoke down to this wife—"Viewers would go on Twitter and tell me to divorce my husband!" Kristen says—she says they're committed to making things work. And they're seeing results. "Our marriage is more balanced than viewers might thing," she says. "Josh gets up early with the kids every morning, and we switch off when we have work obligations...It's teamwork."

At the end of the day, Kristen admits that "marriage is really hard," but she knows that it's worth it. "We are a lot stronger than a reality show," she says. "Team Taekman all the way! With twelve years, two kids, and one season of reality TV under our belts, we are in it for the long haul."
