After spending the last four years locked up in an Italian prison, 24-year-old Amanda Knox is free to return home to Seattle. And like so many observers, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards has been anxiously awaiting the jury's decision. "So happy Amanda Knox is free. My heart goes out to her, her family and Meredith Kercher's family," she tweeted.
Amanda Knox, along with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, were appealing their 2009 convictions for murdering Amanda's roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007. Amanda had been previously sentenced to 26 years behind bars, and Raffaele to 25.
"I have been following the Amanda Knox case from day 1 and have always thought she was innocent. Sad," Kyle said earlier in the day. Co-star Camille Grammer's BFF Dedra Whitt shared Kyle's elation over the verdict. "So happy for Amanda Knox!" she tweeted. Likewise, RHMIA's Lea Black couldn't agree more with overturning the conviction. "Fingers crossed #freeamandaknox…#noevidence!" she posted before Amanda's acquittal was announced.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Caroline Manzo, however, wasn't quite sold. "Amanda Knox - sketchy evidence? This is a strange case, lots of pieces missing. Not sure how I feel," she tweeted.

YAY AMANDA!!!!!!!! FREE AT LAST!!!!!! LOVE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!!! Thank you Kyle for posting your excitement regarding this case - I too have followed this from day one and started crying like I knew her when the verdict came down!!! Wish we lived closer Kyle - I'd love to raise a glass of bubbly with you so we can celebrate our girls release!!!! P.S. Caroline - Really woman? You've gotta be kidding me!
I was jumping for joy. I too have followed this story since day one. I was glued to the news to my astonishment the internet had the news on her acquittal first . Yes, she'll have a story to tell. I hope Raffaelle gets out of the country of Italy fast. Before the delusional prosecution appeals the verdict and tries putting him behind bars. He has very smart attorneys advising him I'm sure. Amanda's will be on a plane in 3 hours. If appealed and Italy asks for an extradiction. the US will not let Italy extradite. Due to the unfair due process.
Wow, this young woman has had to suffer jail and there is not enough evidence to convict Casey Anthony.. that's DISGUSTING AND A SHAME TO THE INTALIAN COMMUNITY
The truly sad thing is I don't think anyone will ever be able to say with confidence what exactly happened to Meredith Kercher, the sequence of events that led to her death, or who was involved and to what extent. But even if you believe the demonization the foreign press made of Amanda Knox's personality ... you have to admit there's nothing to prove it. Not one shred of credible or repeatable evidence exists to even suggest Amanda or Raffaele were involved. There is no way you should be able to sleep well at night after locking someone up because you don't particularly like them or their behavior. These two young people were locked up solely because they were made to look like unsavory characters. Not because anyone could truly point to any factual evidence. Sad for everyone involved and touched by it.
