The Dish

Livin' la Vida Local

'Top Chef' is quick to get involved with the Slow Food movement.

July 30, 2010

Seeing as our goal on Top Chef is to determine the best culinary talent, we want to provide our cheftestants with the best possible ingredients. What better way to do that than by sending them to the source? We were stoked to have our chefs supporting local farming by cooking at Ayrshire Farm, Virginia’s first totally certified organic and humane farm, for the recent “Farm Policy” challenge on Top Chef D.C.

Bravo is all about being green and healthy (although we do love our desserts), and this wasn’t the first time we had Padma and Tom mosey on down to greener pastures. In season five, our chefs were put to the test at Stone Barns, which just got a shout out in MNN’s 40 Farmers Under 40 piece. Hopefully we’ll get to see more farm fun in future seasons (because who doesn’t love a chef in overalls?)!
