As if Rachel Zoe couldn't get any busier, the star of The Rachel Zoe Project continues to expand her empire. Along with her partner Robin Moraetes, the fashion guru opened up a blow-dry bar last week in Manhattan, according to Fashionista.com.
Called DreamDry, it hopes to stake a claim in the rapidly growing blowout biz. So what sets Rachel's salon apart from her competitors? The salon offer features like online booking, iPad style selections, and a rewards program which could mean a champagne soiree in the VIP room if you are a frequent customer.
Another fab feature is the hours. The Flatiron salon opens at 6:30 a.m. (a half hour earlier than the competitors) and doesn't close until 10 p.m. You know what they say: the early bird gets the, um, blowout.
According to Moraetes, consistency is key. Employees attend the DreamDry Academy, a seven to 10 day intensive course of presentations, writing and diagnostic training in the DreamDry technique and the 12 styles that live on the salon’s menu, first on a mannequin and then on actual people's hair.
“If they don’t pass they don’t go on the schedule,” Moraetes explained. We wouldn't expect anything less from Rachel.
