Bravo's creative hair-styling competition series Shear Genius is back for its third season with a whole new look on Wednesday, February 3 at 11 p.m. ET/PT. International model and handbag designer Camila Alves makes her hosting debut alongside new series judge Jonathan Antin, celebrity stylist and former star of Bravo's hit series Blow Out. Famed stylist Kim Vo returns as a judge for his second season, and new to the series, accomplished stylist Orlando Pita adds his voice of expertise as mentor to the contestants.
Joining the expert panel each week, stars from the hair world and beyond serve as guest judges to determine who makes the cut, including Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Estelle, Tabatha Coffey, star of Tabatha's Salon Takeover, renowned hair guru Ken Paves and celebrated stylist, Oribe. Watch the clip below for a sneak peek of the third season, and tell us what crazy challenge you want to see this year in the comments!
I love the show. I love Camila. I think she is great and beautiful. I have a long hair and I want to have a drastic change. How can I do to participate on the show?
After diging for in many parties she became in a family way!
memories from Redondo Beach...
Camila cannot read a teleprompter. FACT.
Brian is outstanding! I'm pulling for you!
So excited to see Janine. Been going to Hairroin for years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Kick butt girlie!
Team Janine!!!!!! Go Girl!
Soooo excited for season 3!!! I cant wait to see Janine win it all!!!
Go Janine!!!!! You are the BEST hairstylist and are totally going to win!! xoxo
JANINE!!! YOU ROCK SOCKS!!!!
Billy Jeanine was not my lover. You got nothin' on this Michael!
I cannot wait to see this season! Jonathin Antin bugs, but Matthew Morris will be fun to watch. Not to mention my FAVORITE Janine from Hairroin!!!!! Hairroin Salon is the best salon in Los Angeles! I have seen Janine do fashion shows from Jared Gold, to getting nominated at NAHA! It's always nice to see someone who is so involved in the community and works so hard, get a chance to show the world how it should be done! Go Janine!
Jon is amazing! I can't wait for America to meet him and know how truly talented he is!
I have been trying to get on Sheer Genius every year and keep missing the auditions. This year, with the loss of behindthechair.com I assumed Sheer Genius was lost as well. How, when, and where will the next audition be?
i thought for sure that they would have ask the stylists that won thw eekly challenges to be on ths how this year, this sucks, i won one week and wanted to be on the show
Go Janine! You are the best hairstylist on this show! Yes, Camillas accent is super annoying.
Hi! Love Tabatha's show, Would like to know how to get her in the Salon I work, It is a messssssss, really needs tons of help, never got a meeting for the last 5 years, and you need to check it up to see what I am talking about, please tell me what to do. thank you
I cannot wait to see the owner of Hairroin Salon (Janine) on the show! She is hilarious!
Sorry to be the one to correct you Ms. Lisa Strawmier but Jon is a Shear Genius CONTESTANT. Now be nice an say I'm Sorry to all those of us that you are calling knucklehead. I am 100% sure of this. I own the salon he works in so believe you me I KNOW this fact....
hey knuckleheads !!!! jon is not a contestant he is a judge. read more s.l.o.w.l.y next time!!!!!!!
I have been trying since the beginning of this show to audition....what do I need to do, or who do I need to contact for possible upcoming seasons?
I'm a 15yr plus veteran of the Industry, salon owner, and Cosmetology Instructor.....who is extremely eager to be challenged on another level!!!
Did Jon mention where he works in Nashville? He has worked at Posh hair design for 6 years.
Very happy to see the show back.Does not matter who the host is. It matters that it promotes to field of cosmetology. There are many things to learn from the show.I love it & learn somthing from every show.
Although I will miss Jacklyn. My first cut & style was from one of the angels styles.Fara R.I.P
I hope they do a challenge for "chemo-hair", it is a nightmare to have. There aren't any websites or hair-help pages that cover it that can find. Hair dressers I find have no idea what to do with my hair (it's a cross between coarse and wavy, grows insufferably slowly). It's not about getting a hairstyle you like. Having cancer, chemo and radiation changes who you are as a person, not just your hair. I am thankful to be alive, and moving on with living, I JUST WISH I KNEW WHAT TO DO WITH MY HAIR! I meet people everyday with cancer and this is a common thread.
Glad to hear the show is returning. I will also miss Jaclyn Smith (I have been a Charlie's Angels fan since I was 10). Can't wait to see Tabitha's guest Judge spot. Maybe Bravo could show a marathon of the season 1 and 2 episodes. It would be fun to see Tabitha, Dr Boogie, Daisy, etc again....Also, I missed the Charlie's Angels challenge in season 2, and I would love to see Kate Jackson alongside her fellow angel again!!!
AG—
An African-American preliminary challenge was part of season 1. It was actually quite funny to hear Anthony—who was black but English (Afican-Anglo?)—referring to "African-American hair."
I'm looking to see a challenge involving fine straight hair and one involving older women who want to wear their grey with pride.
My female friend and I would love to be models in a "Salt and Pepper" challenge!
Thanks!
WOW! Wish it wasn't so far away.... We enjoyed seeing the winners at Americas Beauty Show in Chicago! Half of us were followers and some thought I was crazy when I knew a voice on stage without looking.... I met Kim Vo, Charlie, and of course Dee! It was amazing! Thank you!
I can't believe they got rid of Jaclyn Smith for Camilla Alves! Jaclyn was the penultimate host - of any reality show - in my opinion. And based on the preview video, I'm going to be muting Camilla Alves. She has no diction or enunciation. And no more Rene Fris? I'll miss him as well. He seemed so talented and wasn't afraid to 'tell it like it is'. I'm afraid they've ruined this show with their tinkering. If anyone has any ideas on how to get Jaclyn and Rene back, I'm game.
bring back Danielle for something. We just love him and he would make a great guest star or have something to do with a challenge.
Jon - can't wait to see the show! Bless your h>>d on ; )
This should be SO much fun. That Jon is cute. I sure hope he wins!!!!!!!!!!!
Delighted that SG is coming back but will miss Charlie's Angel very much. Big Jon Antin fan here!
I'd like to see a challenge with the Project Runway designers. The stylists and the designers each work with the same model and create a modern look inspired by a famous Hollywood movie costume - Scarlett's curtain dress, Dorothy's gingham, Marilyn's red "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" gown, etc. That'd be a lot of fun.
Why a new host? What has happened to Jaclyn Smith??
I would like to know how do you find people to use for hair models??? I would be willing to have someone color & cut my hair.
Thank you!!!!
How about a challenge styling african-american hair? Haven't seen this yet?
Go Faatemah! We are so proud of you. Can't wait to see you rep Minnesota! Love you
I can't wait for this show to come back on the air! I am most excited that Jonathan's coming back on TV!
You are a hoot, Jon. Can't wait to actually see you on the show! We all know you are the "Master of Mane."
Congrats Faatemah!!! WAY TO GO!!!!
Can't wait to watch!!!
Can't wait to see who cries...who SCREAMS...and who makes me laugh!
You go girl! I am very excited to watch you this season, faatemah!!!!
Should be interesting with Jonathan Antin, but listing to the video, the accent is going to bother me.
I love shear genius!!! I can't wait to see the new season!!
This is very exciting for me. I can't wait to see this season I have a loved one on season 3....
I'm SO excited that this show is back! It obviously was Tabitha's jumping off point to her own show which I LOVE.
I would like to see a challenge that requires the stylists to put a hairpiece into someone's hair and try to make it look like it is their natural hair and not a hairpiece.
I will miss Jacklyn Smith but of course will watch the show ... I look forward to it!
