The 'Top Chef D.C.' Finale Location is...

Find out where the finalists will be competing for the title this season.

August 26, 2010

... Singapore! In a series first, the chefs will be traveling internationally for the finale! The first part of the finale will air Wednesday, September 8th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. So, why Singapore? Well, Singapore is a melting pot of all things culinary – with influences of Chinese, Indian, Malay and Eurasian cuisines – their culinary landscape is constantly evolving. The final chef'testants are put to the test, embarking on many challenges indigenous to the region, encompassing both fine dining elements and native street cuisine.

Home to many of the best restaurants in the world, Singapore also feeds many of the most sophisticated palettes straight out of their legendary hawker centers. Hawker centers are all over the city/state, and feed the majority of the population breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between – there are over 16,000 hawker stalls in Singapore. With a rich and colorful heritage, Singapore is quickly emerging as one of the most highly regarded destinations in Southeast Asia for innovative and exciting food. The Quickfire challenge focuses on street food – by incorporating proteins, fruits, and vegetables commonly found in Singaporean food, it tests the knowledge of the chefs' skills. The guest judge for the Quickfire is K.F. Seetoh, Singapore's resident "Street Food Guru." For the Elimination Challenge, Food & Wine magazine's Dana Cowin travels to Singapore to host an event at the ultra posh Tanjong Beach Club on the resort island of Sentosa. The final Elimination challenge is to cook dinner for Singaporean and International Chefs and personalities at the Jim Thompson Restaurant in trendy Dempsey Hill.

OK, you got me. I copied that straight from the press release. Anyway, GET EXCITED! I sure am.

I have to agree that the judging is off! It is obvious that Padma had a thing for Angelo and is always defending him. Kenny shoud have made the finals hands down, as well as Tiffany! WTF?????

OMG! I am such a fan of this show and an aspiring chef!!! Can't belive they're coming to my hometown!! Do any of ya'll know when the showdown will be taking place? Would certainly love to be there!!!

I think the idea of international destination is great, but I am disappointed in the judging. First you get rid of Kenny, who was always consistently making great dishes except for restaurant wars. In which I think he last put himself out there to over achieve and Kenny was sent home. And now you sent Tiffany home??? Over Kevin or Angelo. Tiffany won multiple challenges and that was not good enough?? I am disappointed in the judges choice for Angelo, a selfish, egotistical, and nuerotic chef..over Tiffany. I don't get it!!! Is it ratings? Because Angelo may have some talent, but he's not the Top Chef and Tiffany or Kenny should have been allowed to compete against him, if that was the case... Ugh!!!! What a disappointment!!!

I don't know if you've watched any of the other Top Chef seasons, but they have not stayed in the same city for the finale. Last season's finale was in Napa Valley, which had nothing to do with Las Vegas. The season before that, the finale was in New Orleans, which had nothing to do with New York City.

Personally, I am looking forward to Singapore. The food there is supposed to be PHENOMENAL. I really want to go some day.

Wow!

Singapore, a mecca of culinary delight...sweet (or savory)!!! Something new & exciting for a Top Chef fan like me...Bravo!!! I'm excited to see the showdown in Singapore. Padma, Tom & Gail, you guys rock! Congrats on your first Emmy!

I love top chef, it makes me want to cook, I just wish I had the kitchen to cook in.

I think singapore will be a great place for the finale!!

This is awesome! I live here! How I wish I was there to see it in real life!

Well, now isn't that convenient for Angelo !!!!

I'm excited about the show and there different food that they cook, the different places they travel to make their wonderful food. The only thing I HATE IS THEIR FOUL LANGUAGE its so unprofessional .

WOW,........The Loin City...now that's real cool BRAVO.....bring the game to the world....;now that what do....I have been a fan from day 1....so they better bring it or go HOME madd as hell...and that's a long way to fly MAD!!!

oh won't angelo have a leg over on this .....is this year another P.C. from D.c.

BOO hiss!!!!! Keep the production money in the US!!!!!

ed cotton (my cousin) is well know for his pee wee herman tequilla dance from pee wees big adventure, someone please make him do this on television!!

Look at the Top Chef facebook page for the consensus opinion.

Basically, the overall feeling (and what I agree with) about the location of the finale??

Just another disappointing aspect of a disappointing season.

what has Singapore got to do with Washington DC. I'm sorry but they should have stayed in the DC area. Not looking forward to this.

I think Singaporean is a great place to hold finals. I wish I could go there!!!

This sounds like an amazing challenge and finale! Can't wait!!!

Can't wait! At first I thought Kenny and Angelo would be the front runners. I'm now pulling for Tiffany and Ed!

What a great place for a finale!
