Sound the trumpets! Or, I guess, hit some pans, we are proud to announced that Top Chef 6 will be in ... LAS VEGAS!

Um, so yeah that's pretty much it. But I think that's enough. Get excited!

Don't care where it is! Can't wait. TCMasters has been great but nothing can beat Top Chef! That would be great if they do next show in Philly.

They should do this show in Philly. We have great resturants. Vegas sucks.

Good to know I was getting a Padma jones after watching TCMasters. I miss Tom too. Not Toby though, I think he should be shown the door. TC doesn't need a "Simon Cowell".

The whole show is a FAVOR sensation with the chief's competitiveness, the judge's[Padma,Tom,Gail and the new guy] who make most dishes look scrumptious with their stylish palate's. Kellly Choi is hot & loved the Masters show! Can,t wait for Las Vegas season six with Padma and the gang?

Since everything in the USA is about who can pay the most, I'd say the sleazy mayor of Las Vegas "bought" season 6 somehow.

LV, home of the 'All you can eat buffet" !! How sad, they could have chosen a city with real cultural roots, like New Orleans, Sante Fe, Portland Oregon, Boston, Austin Texas, and probably a hundred more ethnic, diverse sites. But, with zero local traditions, it will be interesting to see what challenges they come up with. Now just let us know when to tune in. BTW, TC Masters is genius, nice to see the critics getting critiqued! Now they know it isn't as easy as they thought.

I lived in Vegas for 6 years it is a great showcase for chef's but I think there are so many other cities that would have been a better choice. Austin TX is where I'm right now and this would be a great city for it.

When does the new season start????

06/11/2009 - 10:52pm
Denver foodie

Vegas will be great as its become somewhat more classy in the past few years-there are a lot of great restaurants there now backed by famous chefs. Not quite as many all you can eat buffets anymore. If I had a choice though, it would be Denver all the way!

I think Detroit would be a great place for a season. The "Motor City" is on the way out, and it needs something new to save Detroit. Besides, these chefs are experts with knives, they would be one of the few people that would be safe.

I agree - Cleveland should be on the list for next season!! We have got many amazing restaurants - top notch - Tremont, Ohio City, SHaker Square and yes, even Chagrin and Beachwood have amazing amazing restaurants. Lots of local love and flavors here.

p.s. How do you find out about opportunities to attend tastings or events where the chef's cook?

Yeah Cleveland OH would have been a great choice! We are home to Iron Chef Michael Symon and his 2 restaurants as well as The Great Lakes Brewing Company, known for its fabulous beers! What a great episode that would make...Must use Great Lakes beer in your food! Just like the do at the brewery's restaurant....beer brats, salad dressing made from beer, etc. We also are home to the Cleveland Chop House which serves the BEST filet mignon I have EVER eaten....sooo good, melts in your mouth. Not to mention home of Lebron James. Can you imagine an episode with the King James that would benefit one of his local charities. That would be awesome!!!!!

Yeah Cleveland would have been a great choice. We have a Whole Foods market and we are home to the current Iron Chef's Michael Symon and his 2 restaurants as well as the Great Lakes Brewing Company. What a great episode that would make! Having the cheftestants use the Great Lakes beer in their food! Just like they do at the brewery's restaurant. Beer brats, salad dressing made from beer, etc....

Disapointed! When I think of food, I think of the rivers that flow with salmon and trout of the great lakes. I think of the farmer on his hands and knees checking the soil to ensure his crops are the best locally where he can sell them himself with pride knowing he did good. The fields of beef grazing under a sky that never ends. Grandmas farms, where the chicken still run wild (until dinner time). I picture the whole family at the farmers market planning a special saturday night or sunday meal. NO! not now! Its the lights of Las Vegas. The place of lies and deceit. A world thats like a trap. Where once you go in, leaving is next to imposible.....So what kind of show can I expect? I gasp at the thought.

I agree... worst choice for a "reality" TV show. Las Vegas is a waste in most ways. Expect more phoniness.

Las Vegas should be fun to watch, if you concentrate on techniques and prep of the food. Concentrating on love stories and editing the show to confuse the audience is all wrong. The best performers through out the entire series should count for something, like possible tie breakers for those in the decision on which of the "two to be removed in this show". Also for me if Toby the sarcastic critic is on this season, I'm afraid that will do me in, and I have watched for every show and every season.

Hosting the show in Las Vegas really sends a terrible message--that it's ok to be wasteful and self indulgent; and that that's what modern cooking is all about. Nothing grows or is raised in Las Vegas--everything is shipped in, which is an environmental disaster. I understand that it's just entertainment, but with the climate of the country now, hosting the show in a city where the chefs could work with local farmers, talk about sustainability, etc. would have been more logical and appropriate.

I live in Las Vegas and am pretty disappointed that everyone is upset that it's going to be here. Las Vegas has tons of variety for culinary choices. We have everything here! We're the whole world wrapped up into one long stretch of road! When people think of Vegas they think of parting. But Vegas is much more than that. I think Las Vegas is a great choice!

Las Vegas????? It's a great place for "Greatest Hit's" dining, but no access to local, sustainable products. I would've like to have seen it take place somewhere in middle america. What about Kentucky?

Las Vegas, get real....so disappointing!

What organic garden grows at 115F...what livestock lives in the desert (snakes and lizards?)....there are so many places great places you could have chosen.

Yes, Vegas has satellite restaurants of famous chefs, so I guess you guys pick it for easy bookings.

Please don't "jump the shark" on successful show....we have already seen a show in LV...it was The Real World and it sucked!!!

I would of thought New Orleans or Savanah, but believe it or not Cleveland Oh, is a very diverse city and it would also be a great place. The city is all about food. There isnt any kind of food you cant find. There are food festivals year long. Would love to see their take on Paprikash or Pierogi,s, Corned Beef, Perch and Walleye. Very tired of monkfish. Who eats that anyway?

Very disappointed. There are so many multicultural cities in this country that could have been chosen. Why Vegas? It's all glitz, hype and fake. Where will the contestants shop for FRESH produce and protein? In every city previously chosen, there was always talk of it's history and ethnic influences on local fare. Not much in the line of true historical influences for culinary masterpieces in Las Vegas. I thought TC was of a higher level. Yes, I probably will watch, as I do like the show. I only hope the producers will do a better job next season.

I think a city with a great culinary history and ambiance—and one that isn't everyone's first thought—would be Baltimore. With its port connections, a variety of ethnic areas, and the beauty of the Inner Harbor, Baltimore would be an ideal location and would surprise a lot of viewers not familiar with it.

I understand the Vegas haters but I do think this gives the show some outstanding opportunities for Larger than life events/challenges. It should be fun. One problem I would see would be if they also use the desert for challenges they could detract from such opportunities in Arizona, NM, etc, if the show moves there down the road-yet they could use this as a chance to hit all those spots as one challenge short trips(?)

That is very anticlimatic and a bit of deja vu because it was where the Season 1 finale was held. It's a town of illusion, soullessness and polyester clothing. Are there any fresh markets available or is everything vacuum packed?
So - big deal. Yawn. "

Hey everyone. Take it easy. True that Las Vegas does not have the deep cultural roots of many other cities but it does have some advantages. The variety of excellent "outpost" restaurants has created a deep pool of culinary talent and, contrary to popular opinion, there are also many fine locally spawned restaurants such as Andre's, Lotus of Siam and Rosemary's Cafe. If the show plays to the variety available and avoids the Vegas cliches it could be very interesting.

Love the show! Been a fan since the beginning. I don't mind Vagas for season 6 at all. It's a fun town with lots going on! Should be interesting to see what happens there!
What i do mind is all the commercials and advertisements that have taken over the show. I know it pays the bills, but Top Chef has sold out completely!
Fine, keep the "Dr. Pepper" challenges and product placement, but get rid of all the extra commercials and lets see more of the show!

Really REALLY disappointed in LV as the choice.

Think about the regions of the country you HAVEN'T been - the deep South (Savannah, GA), the Southwest (Tucscon, Phoenix, Tempe), the Northwest (Portland, Seattle). And Whole Foods is even in most of those cities, if you're still tied to them from an advertising POV.

LV is known as an "outpost" destination - chefs have their original restaurants elsewhere, and when they decide to "go global", Vegas is usually one of the stops to open in a hotel.

Come on producers - think of a REAL food city that has many different, interesting marketplaces for next time!

Well all you will have to tune in because yes we do have Farmer's Markets - with actual farms within town and a few just outside of town...shows you how much you can learn if you got off the Strip once in a while.

Maybe that is why they want to have Top Chef here, to show that we are a real city with all the perks just like any other city...we just happen to have one really famous road.

We are just as good as Boston, Santa Fe & Denver, I have been to them all so I am familiar with what they have to offer, stop 'hating' Vegas and find out for yourselves. I hope with all the negative chatter the show actually does show us as a real city...as we are.
