I wanted to learn more about the economy, so I read an issue of The Economist. I will now explore the market benefits of implimenting a cycle-proof regulatory system immune to boom and bust. No wait, wake up, I was kidding. I'm no expert, but luckily we have Bravotv.com's buisness correspondent on hand - Jill Zarin. Jill is the former Chief Budget Officer of her Brownie Troop (allegedy) and is a fiscal crisis expert (according to Bergdorf sales associates.) Jill, thanks for joining us this morning...
really how could you possibly know anything about the economy you say never spend more than you make and you'l br rich well try living off what real housewives do
Re: Jill on the Economy.
Wait to go, Jill! You did a beautiful job!! You spoke up better for Americans than our current president!
I think that the report accusing Jill and other people for the crisis is wrong, because the economy is like that not just because of a small group.
Mary got it on the head! Try living on a budget Jill! Whatever kind of budget allows for a 16,000 purse along with a Mercedes Suv, and a complete home redecorating...I think I along with all the kids in Africa, could live pretty well on that budget! She could have built Harvard in Africa with that kind of money, instead they get a grass hut. Pretty generous Jill!
Although I enjoy the guilty pleasure of watching Housewives ofNew York, sometimes I wonderif it's unkind to use someone as obviously in need of medication as Ramona for entertainment.
Don't hate on our president I didn't see or hear anyone give bush this much crap like you are doing to obama. He hasn't been in office that long and the economy is because of bush and obama is stepping in and doing what bush couldn't do in his 8 years in office.
Jill has to be the most real of the housewives, she seems to never pass judgement on anyone, has compassion and knows who she is.Think she is wonderful
I say BRAVO to you, I believe i know where you stand In your faith with your comment on Africa. Your statement of teaching to be fisherman rather than to just give them the fish.. You go Jill, Now show your Faith on the day of National Prayer Day may 7th In Central Florida, stand with our political leaders who are ready to pray for our Country in front of thousands for the first time In this City's history, you know what It will take for your business to rise even higher, and that Is by Teaching them to Fish. be Blessed
Jill has no idea how real people live nor do the other housewives. They say they are donating to charity but really they are paying money to party!!! Then they deduct all their "charitable contributions" on their taxes!!!! Believe me, charity is not about getting something for your money...it is about donating to get something done for another human being and getting anything in return other than the feeling of being human. And, it should be done anonymously so that other people don't even know about it.
If you were in Jill's position, you wouldn't be giving all of your money away to the less fortunate. It is easy to sit there and judge other people when you are not in their position. She is very fortunate to have these things and can afford to do so. I wish I could be that fortunate, but I am not. I am envious of her, not critical.
It takes 5 People from the BBC to do a story? Now that is extravagant! Who made them judge & jury? What a set up? I thought Jill handled it well. I would have kicked them out! "You People Caused?" Sounds like class warfare to me. $16,000.00 for a purse, is expensive; but that money pays the Designer who created the purse, and her employees etc. AFRICA In NY, when we had problems with the West Nile Virus, they sprayed the affected areas. They did not hand out mosquito nets! Maybe they should lift the band on DDT Spraying, (lower dose, of course), in Africa; instead of handing out mosquito nets that do not work! That would be a good start, since Malaria is the number one killer in Africa! Jill was right about helping people. It is the little things that mean the most. It is called being human.
Jill, loved the way you dealt with the BBC people. At the end of the day is your money and you do what you want with it. Keep helping others and like you said good things will keep happening to you and others!!! That guy was out of line, "you people..." I wasn't sure if he disliked Rich people or just Americans in general...Love you and Bethenny!
There is no shame in being successful. It is what everyone should strive for. Jill and Bobby have worked hard for what they have acheived and built a great life and legacy. When people are successful and give back to others who are less fortunate it is something to acknowledge and appreciate, not look down upon!
The reporters came into Jill's home and implied that we all CAUSED the recession? That was in poor taste, and Jill deflected it all perfectly. They were trying to make her feel/look bad, and she bounced it all right off. You go, Jill! (BTW, this is a cycle. . .free economies do cycle. The 1920's were a boom, the 1930's were a bust. )
Go Team Jill....You were right on the money...One has to spend less than one has...that is the bottom line! Live within your means...whatever that is.
You and Bethany are my favorite houseives!!!
Jill seems to have good intentions regarding her charity work. During the BBC interview, it was clear she felt blindsighted by many of the questions. No one should question Jills' right to enjoy the lifestyle created by their business. However, given the overall state of the economy, and the struggles the average American to make ends meet, the issue of her spending habits can be rather offensive. No jealousy intended, but couldn't that $16,000 be put to better use by any charitable organization rather than a handbag ? Please Jill, focus your marvelous charisma and intelligence towards your charitable causes rather than senseless consumerism.
I thought that Jill did a great job, with such obviously obstrusive questions from the BBC. There is nothing wrong with finding something that you are good at doing, and making money doing it. Some people in our country have lived that dream, thank goodness because they are the ones who are paying all the taxes that keep our country going. As for our current president, if he had done the interview he would have needed a telepromter, he never faces the press, or a speech without it. Oh, and how about the recent $300,000+ fly over photo opt with the statue of liberty with Air Force one that scared NY residents. Who paid for that? Bingo "All those Taxpayers"! I hope that the president enjoys those rather expensive photos, in his memory book. Cha-Ching! If Bush had done that one, can you imagine! No Jill, did a great job with the interview, and has a great heart! Team Jill all the way!!
