“He’s being made out to be terrible," she says.

Dan used to date hot, blonde, twenty-something models, but after a while found the whole gaggle of them to be "flighty, selfish, and vapid," reports the New York Post.

In a nutshell:

“‘I could have [anyone] I wanted,’ says Rochkind, now 40 and an Upper East Sider with a muscular build and a full head of hair. ‘I met some nice people, but realistically I went for the hottest girl you could find.’

[He] used to date swimsuit models, but he’s happier now that he’s engaged to a merely beautiful woman, Carly Spindel (right). He spent the better part of his 30s going on up to three dates a week, courting 20-something blond models, but eventually realized that dating the prettiest young things had its drawbacks — he found them flighty, selfish and vapid. Beautiful women who get a fair amount of attention get full of themselves. Eventually, I was dreading getting dinner with them because they couldn’t carry a conversation.”

While Dan says he loves Carly because she “isn't like the swimsuit models he used to go for,” Carly says that's not how he meant it at all. Then the story goes on to call her “merely beautiful.” Dan is just outright insulting her, isn’t he?

Carly doesn’t think so.

"I have not read all of it, a bunch of friends were sending me 'save Carly' stories,” she laughs. “I am marrying a wonderful man. He’s kind and sweet and I don’t have a negative thing to say about him. He’s smart, genuine, he’s not an a**hole.”

Carly, 30, even praised her mother-in-law to be.

“Dan was raised by a wonderful strong woman who taught him to be a gentleman and to treat women with respect. That’s what crushed me as his fiancée,” she explains. “People hating on this random man who I am marrying. He didn’t say he can ‘get whatever he wants.’ He’s a nice, smart, down-to-earth, low-key guy 100 percent. He’s not a club-going guy, not ostentatious, not narcissistic. He’s a kind, normal guy.”

Carly says her friends and family know the true Dan, and she has a multitude of texts from friends asking who the heck the guy in the article is.

“He’s being made out to be terrible and that’s not the case in any way,” she says. “Janice and I believe that beauty and brains are on the same playing field, and are supporters of women. And so is Dan."

The two met through Carly’s mom, Janice Spindel, who happens to be a professional matchmaker and owns her own matchmaking service. Carly is the vice president of the company. Janice spotted Dan at the gym and approached him saying she had the perfect girl for him - her daughter.

Dan and Carly will marry on June 10 at the Wölffer Estate Vineyard in the Hamptons.
