Yes, monochromatic, sleek lines—think: a nude bodysuit under nude sweatpants with nude heels and a nude duster—are very “in” right now. And that’s a great look that maybe one day I’ll give a whirl. But really, what I’m feeling right now is a bit more, um, fun. And girly. And twirly—as in, you’ll want to twirl all freaking day when you’re wearing them. What am I talking about? Tulle skirts, of course.

Frothy and bouncy and harkening a super-cool ballerina, the tulle skirt is a timeless choice and with the warm weather now upon us, there’s no better time to rock one. Whether you pair it with sneakers and a denim jacket, gladiator stilettos and a leather jacket or dainty flats and a simple tank, the tulle skirt can be worked into any outfit—casual, like you’re headed to the farmer’s market, or fancy, as in you’re off to date night. And because it’s practically illegal to talk tulle and not reference Carrie Bradshaw, we can all simultaneously tip our hats to the character who immortalized the fashion choice way back when.
