What Happened to Cause Selma Blair's Mid-Flight Shocker?
The star's happy family vacation took a very worrisome turn.
Selma Blair's happy vacation has taken a sad and concerning turn: On Monday, the actress was removed from her international flight on a stretcher and rushed to the hospital.
The star was returning to Los Angeles from a trip in Cancun, Mexico, where she had been on a family vacation with her four-year-old son Arthur Saint, as well as his dad, her ex, Jason Bleick.
TMZ reported that Selma was traveling in first class sipping wine. Then, she started crying and describing garbled fears about an unspecified man. "He burns my private parts. He won't let me eat or drink," she said, according to the report. "He beats me. He's going to kill me."
Flight attendants on top of the situation checked her bags, discovered pills, and alerted the pilot, who called ahead for medical attention. Multiple outlets now report it was the combination of pills and alcohol that caused the incident.
Before the worrying outburst occurred, the star appeared to be having a nice time.
She posted a photo that showed her and Arthur excitedly playing with toys prior to takeoff.
While in Mexico, she was photographed enjoying the beach and beautiful Mexican environs.
Later, the actress confirmed the reports with a dignified and succinct apology told to Vanity Fair: “I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret. My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
