Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets may have gotten mixed reviews, but we're here to tell you that the fashion from the sci-fi adventure's press tour is a certified hit. That's what happens when you recruit pop queen Rihanna and supermodel/actress/singer-songwriter Cara Delevingne to star in a movie. Both Cara and Rihanna brought their A game for the film's international premieres, and their friendship is so cute.
The duo didn't coordinate for the red carpet, however: Rihanna seemed drawn to very girly pink and red dresses, while Cara and her cute platinum pixie wore really sharp suits. Here is everything they wore to promote Valerian around the world.
First things first: both these looks are straight off the Fall 2017 runways. Cara's wearing the same shimmery, plunging wrap gown that Bella Hadid wore in the Alexandre Vauthier show this summer. It gave Bella a bit of trouble: she almost had a wardrobe malfunction but gracefully held the dress together. Maybe she gave Cara a heads up about that.
OK, we've never heard of a "crystal capelet" before—but now we want one! Cara layered her gorgeous mega necklace over a simple, impeccably tailored Burberry suit.
Gotta love Rihanna in a red hot Giambattista Valli ballgown.
Eyes up here, guys.
Cara opted for cool suits for many of her press appearances. This oversize Alexander Wang suit fits with Cara's “androgynous, cutting-edge” fashion sense, her stylist Mariel Haenn told The Telegraph. The brand's glam zip-up, studded boots are selling out fast.
3. New York
She must've been in a blue mood in NYC: this velvet Mugler tuxedo makes her look like a rock star. The sunglasses and bra top help with that too.
4. Los Angeles
Cara and Rihanna's dresses couldn't be more different for Valerian's LA premiere. Rihanna is fit to be a Disney princess in a pink tulle Giambattista Valli couture dress, while Cara looks like sexy robot in a sculptural Iris van Herpen gown that's equally show-stopping.
Can Rihanna and Cara walk every red carpet together from now on? Is that too much to ask?
