One hallmark of a good man? He sends you flowers to show he cares. One hallmark of a better man? He sends your dog flowers to show he cares.
Debbie Cardone received a bouquet of flowers and assumed that they were a thoughtful gift from her husband Vincent. But when she opened the card, she found that they weren’t for her at all, but rather their 10-year-old English bulldog Sebastian.
Here is her Facebook post:
“Sebastian,” reads the card, “Feel better you’ll be back in the game very soon. Love Daddy.” The 10-year-old English Bulldog is recovering from knee surgery, so his dad was simply sending along good vibes.
Cardone’s husband has been working in the Middle East, so he occasionally sends her “just because” bouquets. “He does send me random flowers,” Cardone told ABC News, “but this time Sebastian really enjoyed them.”
The story went viral when the Cardones’ daughter Lily shared the anecdote on Twitter. “My dad sent flowers to my house today and my mom thought they were for her. THINK AGAIN.”
Bonus: As a thank you for the accidental free advertising that comes with going viral, 1-800-Flowers sent Sebastian six more bouquets, featuring flowers arranged to look like dogs!
