A woman gave birth mid-flight, earning her lucky baby a lifetime of free flights.
Missy Berberabe Umandal, was on a Cebu Pacific Air flight from Dubai to the Philippines, when she had the baby. Her due date wasn’t until October when she started having contractions five hours into the flight.
“Had the most 'NORMAL' flight ever with Cebu Pacific Air. A woman near our seat gave birth to a healthy baby girl, on our flight from Dubai back to PH. We had to do an emergency landing in India to ensure the baby's safety. All flight attendants, pilots, and passengers were very attentive too. Very lucky baby.. since she was born in a Cebu Pac plane, she gets FREE TRAVELS FOR A LIFETIME with the airline. Congratulations to the first-time Mom and Grandma! This is something you don't get to see everyday. It only happens in movies, and we're lucky to witness this miracle,” says one Facebook post on the birth.
The flight happened to have two nurses on board who moved her to a spacious area in the front of the plane. When the baby arrived, flight attendants washed the baby off with bottled water. Luckily, there was another baby on board, and the parents handed over some baby clothes.
“It was immediately decided that an emergency landing in India was necessary to ensure the baby's health, as it was born 2 months earlier than expected,” said the Facebook post. “We might have misheard the name, but it sounded like the baby would be named 'Haven.’”
Passengers on board ended up in an 18-hour flight that was originally supposed to clock in at nine hours.
