Bravotv.com spoke with Date My Ex runner-up Chris about his experience on the show, including some of his favorite moments with Jo and his current relationship status. Read on to find out what happened after the cameras stopped rolling!
Bravotv.com: Were you a fan of The Real Housewives of Orange County before starring on Date My Ex?
Chris: Never saw The Real Housewives of Orange County until I Googled it when I found out I would be dating Jo de la Rosa. I have watched Top Chef a lot, but I didn't really have any background with Bravo besides that.
Why did you agree to star on a dating show?
I was out with my roommate who is a professional model and was approached. I went to the casting call as a tag along and for some laughs. One thing led to another and I was cast for the show. I thought going on the show would be a great break from the intensity of my job. It was cold in Chicago when I was going through the process and getting to spend sometime in LA sounded like it would be fun. I knew that my friends and family would get some laughs out of it and it was also exciting not to know what would happen.
What attracted you to Jo?
I was attracted to Jo because she has amazing eyes, a great laugh, a sexy body and is confidant without being cocky, she can laugh at herself.
What is the best date you've ever been on?
The best date I have ever been on has to be flying first class with my girlfriend to Lake Louise in Banff Canada. We saw the amazing Canadian Rockies and did some RR time in the Ski Town of Banff, but we mostly locked ourselves in a hotel room for four days, ordered room service and fell in love.
What's one thing that fans would be surprised to find out about you?
One thing that fans would be surprised to find out about me is that I come from very modest blue collar roots. Having a trading firm and a software design firm stems from the values and work ethic I got from my two heroes - my parents. My father is a mechanic and my mom is a hairdresser. They work extremely hard to this day to make ends meet. My goal in life, besides having a wonderful family of my own, is to retire them within the next couple years.
What was your favorite moment with Jo during the series?
My favorite moment with Jo had to be heading back to her apartment after our third date. We put in the CD I got her and jammed to some Dierks Bentley. She admits she is a big dork and we just cut loose and laughed at how crazy the whole thing was. Jo was very honest about it being hard and not always being comfortable because we were dating in front of cameras. When the cameras were off we acted like the friends we had become.
