A Wedding Ode for Ashley Madekwe

Christos discusses the Revenge star's innate sense of style.

Ah, the joys of a wedding.

Other than having to traverse the 405 freeway in LA, there is nothing more stressful than the hunt for a wedding dress. So you can imagine how nerve wracking it was to help my good friend, Revenge actress and trendsetter Ashley Madeckwe find her nuptial look.

I first saw Ashley on the small screen on this great show, Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She played a lady of the night called Bambi. I so intrigued with her and her look/style. Cut to a party a Decades a few years later, and I saw her and in a too-loud voice said, "OMG I am obsessed with you and Revenge!" Luckily, she did not run away and we struck up a conversation and became fast friends.

Ashley and I began collaborating together for events. She has innate style, like Selma Blair, the Olsen Twins, and Blake Lively. No stylist needed. Ever. She was beautiful in labels from Alaia to Pauline Trigere.

She became engaged to her former co-star Iddo Goldberg. Iddo is OK -- I will say it, perfect. Smart, handsome, British. And I actually trained him at a Disney store in the UK. Long story, for a different blog post.

When she arrived at the store, I was nervous and excited to have her try on looks. Of course, given her keen eye she saw the Oscar de La Renta dress on the mannequin. Up it went to her Decades wedding lair.

I love it when a client has a specific idea of how she wants to look for an event. Ashley did. And while she liked my choices, the Oscar dress fit her vibe the best. I came up with the idea of a "change" at the wedding/reception and she loved it. Mission accomplished.Ashley and Iddo were married this summer. And remain the sweetest couple ever. Well, other than my hubby and me.
