Hamptons Style

Wilson breaks down how to dress if you're heading to the Hamptons.

The Hamptons look -- what really is the Hamptons look? That's what I asked myself since it was my first time going there. The Hamptons is known for its chic, yet comfortable, style. It's about where you are gong, who are you wearing, and why are you wearing them. Everything is pretty much overpriced, and the guys look as if they all share the same closet.

For men it's all about Brooks Brothers (almost head to toe), polo, khaki pants, blue blazers, pocket squares, fedoras, etc. -- all really cute and out of my budget. For woman, it's about the classic stripe shirt dress or just a comfortable white dress from Calypso with a transitional tote bag that they can go to brunch with after the beach.

With all that said, you can still be true to your style and not have to follow the Hamptons look, as long as you at least dress accordingly. We all have different styles, and I am not better than the others. But I do like to think that Tara, besides being my manager, is my friend, and I had to tell her how I felt about what she choose to wear. In my opinion it was wayyyy too much. There is no need to make such bold statement. Sometimes it's better to keep it cute and go for the simpler look.

At the end of the day we had a very productive trip, found some amazing pieces and met some wonderful people including Jackie Rogers!
