So I guess I should have listened to my mother with the never-more-prevalent-than-now, "What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas, especially while filming a reality TV show." OK, so that last part I added but good advice nonetheless. The gang did Vegas in the last episode for Sarah's bachelorette party, and all the while Zoila was recuperating from her "birthday present." Going into a weekend like that you really need to prepare yourself, but I knew I'd be all right with heavy alcohol intake, because I've spent over two years working with Jeff Lewis.
Over the years working side by side, Sarah and I have gotten to be really close. So I knew when there was a bachelorette party in Las Vegas for her, things were about to get a little crazy. We had a great time and were encouraged to have fun. Jeff's speaking engagement at the design center was on day two of the trip. I actually called it an early night by Vegas standards. I didn't indulge that much more in the Sapphire festivities than Jeff and Gage because, well, the strippers weren't exactly my type.
The morning of Jeff's speaking engagement, I was really under the impression he wanted us to enjoy our weekend off and celebrate with Sarah. Had he wanted me to attend his event, I would have been happy to do so. It's unfortunate I wasn't there to support him because I never want Jeff to be disappointed, especially with me.
I'm going to side with Trace on this one. It seems as though Jeff is trying to create drama for his show for ratings....how sad.
Trace, I think your a wonderful addition to JLD and he's lucky to have you. I think Jeff just likes to have something to complain about sometimes. Hopefully he'll get over it!!!
Trace, I don't think Jeff would have left the party had Jenny and Jeff's partner not been there to pull him out. So, I wouldn't feel bad about not being there the second morning, especially since it was not told to you as an expectation. Jeff's just being a diva. Don't give it a second thought. That party looked fun and wild and you looked like you were at the mercy of your peers. Especially in the strip club when Chaz was bouncing your head off the stripper's butt. You looked so uncomfortable! You are always on the ball and you do a great job. Any employer would be proud to have you. I'm sure some day we'll see you with your own design house and perhaps a show on Bravo too!
Trace, just saw your firing. I feel bad for you. Jeff is the one that has changed...jeff needs to get rid of Gage. Never mix business with pleasure.
Trace,
It is my observation that Gage seems to be working behind the scenes to manipulate Jeff. I don't know if that is an accurate observation, but I am not trusting him.
Needless to say, I just left a company with an employer like Jeff. Talented...yes. Good communicator....No. There is a way to communicate with your employees. Not to attack. I hope you don't feel diminished. I think you have always come across very appropriate.
Good luck with everything. You are very talented!
I am so pissed off about Jeff terminating you!!! I think you should have been counseled or written up,, Not Terminated!!! I am so mad at him and I will miss seeing you on the show. I do not like his boyfreind/girlfriend who seems to be the catalyst for everything.
Trace - Your brain is worth more then your wallet. No regrets - Live and learn! also..Jeff needs help!
Trace, I agree with you regarding the implied intentions of the trip to Vegas. It's almost as if that was apart of a plan to fuel the fire regarding you and Sarahs termination! Jeff made it seem like the trip was primarily to honor Sarahs wedding & for her to just enjoy and have fun! He didn't mention any additional expectations to you guys regarding the speaking engagement! So, that was a foul move on Jeffs part! Goodluck with Trace Designs!!!!
Trace, you seem like a great employee to me and as usual Jeff's lack of human relations and managerial skills meant that you and Sarah got shafted. I'm sure you will go on to do bigger and better things than JLD. Ultimately Jeff is simply a project manager ... he manages projects not people. That's not your fault at all.
OH MY HELL!!!!! Trace I just saw the episode when Jeff let you go! I am so glad you handled it as classy as you did. Jeff tried to get you to stoop to his level but you just weren't having it. Good job maintaining composure you put up with a lot with Jeff. On to bigger and better things for you! I will be your number one fan on your next show!
HELLO, I CAN NOT BELIEVE JEFF LET GO EVER SINCE GAGE CAME ON THE LEWIS SHOW JEFF HAS CHANGED TO THE WORST!!!!! I AM AT HE POINT THAT ME AND MY FAMILY WILL STOP WATCHING THE JEFF LEWIS SHOW YOU HERE ME BRAVO!!!!!!
Trace;
I am with everyone. I think Gage has something to do with what is going on with Jeff. Maybe Gage is jealous of you. I am so sad to see you go. You were probably one of the most calming, peaceful, loving souls there at JLD. The look on your face when he cursed at you and terminated you broke my heart. Whether you deserved it or not, the termination that is, you did not deserve to be spoken to like that. At the most, a write up. I am certain in California they have laws regarding this. Verbal, written, final and term, unless he is trying to say your working on company time and charging him and the client is like stealing, but, he went to the extreme in my opinion. By his reaction towards the end and how he spoke to you, you are better off. You got the experience and I am certain you will be scoooped up by someone somewhere and they will be so lucky to have someone like you on their staff. You will finally get to work somewhere where they will treat you with respect.. It might hurt for a moment, but it's just the beginning. That was the first chapter in your professional life. Now you move on to the next chapter and like all books, it only gets better as you read along... Peace, young superstar in the making..
Hate how Jeff treated you! He has no tolerance and he is far from perfect! I don't see how you have been portrayed to be wasting his time. I hope you have an opportunity to work at a place where you can learn and grow in a more positive company!
Trace,
I am suprised and saddened by your thoughtless and careless act concerning your job. In simple terms you were dishonest in your approach to working for Jeff. You entered into an agreement to work for him with total commitment to Jeff Lewis Design. I guess you got a little lazy and forgot. You have demonstrated questionable character and the problem with that is that "character(your actions) define you. What you did is equivalent to stealing from your employer. Get serious young man and learn from your bad judgement and choices. You have demonstrated zero loyalty and gratitude for the oppotunity that was afforded to you by Jeff. What a shame. I guess you can tell that I am quite suprised.
Dear Trace,You are on to bigger and better things. Don't even think twice about what happened. With all of your amazing talent and the beautiful way about you, I'm positive that you will be the best designer that anyone has ever seen. I think you are wonderful!
Hi Trace, Thanks for your blog and I want to say I will really miss seeing you on the show, as well as Sarah. I understand that life is change and I wish you well on your own firm. Maybe Sarah can work with you? She's great with clients. I like your demeanor and your sense of style. I agree with other comments on Gage. He strikes me as a control freak and absolutely no fun. I'd like to see Jeff with someone whose sense of humor measures up to his own. Are you dating anyone?
Trace, Just watched your final show and I am ashamed at Jeff. I wanted to SO love Gage for Jeff's sake, but now that is over. Gage is walking in and trying to act like HIM and Jeff are building this business, off the sweat and tears of you, Jenny, Zolia!~ And as he did with Ryan, Jeff and his dysfunction will destroy this relationship, and Gage will be gone, only to find Jeff alone with no employees that he can trust. On EVERY show, I watched the way you worked, with customers and within the chaos of the office. You are TRULY BETTER OFF, and will be missed.Best of luck to you and your new adventure.

You are the cutest thing EVER!! You look just like James Dean. Love how you handle Jeff and all the madness. XO!
