Recreate Abby's Perfectly Undone Side Chignon

Master the look for the next wedding you attend.

By Megan Segura

Tonight we got to see all of the Girlfriends dressed up for Delia's wedding. And although they were bridesmaids, each of their looks serve as great inspiration for the next wedding you attend (minus the white dress, of course...). Abby's hairstyle, in particular, is one that is easy to recreate but still looks amazing in photos. Beauty expert Ami Desai outlined the three steps it takes to get a side-swept chignon like Abby's.

1. Start with dry hair.

"It doesn't have to be the cleanest--day-old hair works wonders for up-dos," says Desai. "Try spraying hair with Blow Pro Textstyle Dry Texture Spray to give your mane some body and make it more malleable."

2. Curl hair with a curling iron.

"Curl sections of your hair with a larger barrel for soft, full waves or a smaller barrel to achieve tighter curls like Abby. The Hot Tools Gold Curling Iron in 1 1/4'' is my favorite to work with."

3. Choose your part.

"Choose either a center or side part (as seen on Abby), section your hair into two pieces, and pull them both to the side that you want your chignon to sit on. Apply frizz spray to tame any major flyaways when bringing your hair to one side.

4. Tie a knot.

"Take the two sections you created and tie them into a knot. If your hair is long enough, tie in another knot to add dimension to the final look. Take the end of each knotted section and wrap them around the first knot that was made in the opposite direction. Secure with bobby pins along the way."
If hair has fallen out naturally, let it! This look is meant to be undone, not severe.
