Jeff Lewis

Work in Progress

Jeff explains what inspired him to do the show.

Mar 22, 2012

Thank you for checking out Interior Therapy. I appreciate all of your comments (well most of them). I want to be clear, this new show is not replacing Flipping Out. It is a second show intended to entertain loyal Bravo viewers in the interim. Flipping Out is a true documentary that takes half the year to film. We are very limited to how many episodes we can generate. What drew me to the Interior Therapy concept was the idea of a "mad dash" remodel that could be done in just five days. It allows Jenni and me the ability to shoot ten episodes in just ten weeks. By the way, I'm also helping people (or at least trying to).

I realize the structure of the show has some challenges and it needs some tweaks, but it does have tremendous potential. I appreciate your constructive criticism, and trust me I'm listening. I am a perfectionist, and I want this show to be everything you expect it to be. It will get better, it just might take a season to perfect. In the meantime, keep commenting. Good or bad, I can handle it.

-Jeff

I love your show and your sense of humor is just.....so damn funny.  Please come and re-do a room in my house--I'd love to meet you guys!!!!  Great job!

Jeff - Loved the new show last night. The art gallery was beautiful and you were too funny with your comments about wanting to live with the Lorsches. Who wouldn't, they were truly sweet people and so generous!! Love the show and getting to see your completed design work....Great Job!

No criticisms Jeff...only a great big MAHALO! for the laughs...your one-liners are hilarious.

Jeff - LOVE your show! Hugely entertaining, loaded with great ideas, and shows another facet of your personality....one of compassion. And as usual, Jennie just rocks! Keep up the good work!

I love this new concept. I think it is brilliant but I do miss the banter between you and Zoila. Her comment about the flying carpet was priceless. Love the chemistry between your entire team! BRAVO, never let Jeff Lewis go!!!!!

I love the idea Jeff! Especially since we get to see more of you! The gallery was amazing!!!

I prefer this show to your regular show. I think the interplay of you an Jenni is more lighthearted and interesting when you go each week into new peoples' homes each week, instead of eating each other up each week at your own home/office.

Jeff,

My only real comment is that I love watching you be you. I really enjoyed this particular episode because of your humor. I've watched you from day one and love you more each season! Wish you nothing but success and happiness! Susan

LOVE the new show .. please come up with more! You're my favorite!

Hi Jeff, Great show! I was wondering if the painting of the colorful carousel was an original David Meyers? He was my Uncle and you displayed his artwork beautifully!

I have been in love with Jeff Lewis from DAY ONE ! Hilarious! I so wish you did home makeovers for us poor people out here ! I hope Flipping Out is still coming back on as well. Have to have my weekly dose of Jeff !

Sorry! I love the original show! This new show is boring, boring, boring!!! Bring back the cats! The dogs! Zoila (full-time)! The husband! Especially the husband! Both Jeff and Jenni are waisted on this show.

Blah blah blah love love love. Much much prefer your old show. MUCH MUCH!

this may sound random.. but how can we find out the artist/name of some of the artwork featured on the lorsches' episode?

where can we find the names/artists of some of the art featured on the lorsches' episode?!

Hey Jeff, What you did with Bob and Kira L. is simply amazing, wish I can live in a house that can house a gallery,it's so fun watching you and Jenni having a slumber party, next time don't forget the icky green facial mask

Jeff, I like the new show. I am glad to hear that Flipping Out will also be on. It makes me laugh to see you all dealing with clients and each other. Zoila isn't in this show enough either. Best of luck with everything.

Love, Ann P.S. Thanks for blogging this year!

love the new show... question: who is the artist of the colorful carousel? i am slightly obsessed with it and i have not been able to find it online.

any show with you Jeff is ok with me! I love your acerbic sense of humor, your relationships and your thoughts on everything.

Nope! I can watch HGTV if I want to see just makeovers. New show is boreing. We loved Flipping Out when the whole cast was there but you fired half of them Jeff. big mistake. Oh well will just watch the Flipping Out reruns. By the way glad you finally got Ryan off of your coat tails.

Jeff-There is one more layer to this show that I like. It showcases your intelligence! You read people like a laser.

Love Flipping Out and love this show, too. Jennie and Zoila are the best...the three of you are perfect!!!! Jeff, you are so talented!!! I like everything you do. Please don't let your boyfriend seperate you and J and Z......

I LOVE the new show! Especially since last season of Flipping out was not my favorite. I hated how much influence your boyfriend had on you and am not a fan of him AT ALL! On the show, he came across as very arrogant and your energy seemed really off as well. So, to have an entire show with you, Jenni, and Zoila is awesome andthe concept is clever as well. Your energy around them is so much more positive and likable which makes it easier to watch. (In fact, last season of Flipping Out is the first one that I didn't complete since it's aired. ) Stay true to who you are and what makes you enjoyable to watch on TV and take my advice...you should NEVER have your boyfriend on the show!

Love your show! I am completely entertained! Your comments are priceless! Watching the redo is very interesting, I would like to know more about your thought process, and how you come up with your vision. I really liked what you did with the Lorsches art gallery.

Jeffrey Lewis...I thought the first episode was fantastic, however, you knocked the ball out of the park with the Lorsch episode. The comments about being adopted by Bob and Kira had me laughing out loud but at the end, it was really sweet how happy you made them both. GREAT show! Everyone I know is loving it! BTW, my dream Watch What Happens would be you and Anderson Cooper as the guests. Andy, can you make that happen???

Jeff - after watching two episodes now, (both enjoyable) it seems like the quirkiness and humor is missing. The focus is more on your clients and not as much on your life and let's face it, your clients are boring. I don't have any sympathy for a rich hoarder and the Steinbecks - how is redesigning their bedroom going to help that family? Seriously. Start shooting Flipping Out ASAP and forget the clients and interior therapy. Chad the hairdresser was interesting. The lady who hated Jenni was interesting (sorry Jenni). Zoila - THE BEST. Love your pets; love your home; love the way you work. Interior Therapy is ok -- but there's not enough of your life in it. We don't need a rich people version of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (horrible horrible stupid show). We need Jeff, Jenni, and Zoila. Period. All said with love - and btw, the art gallery rocked.

Loved the show. You are a genius. More of zoila....love all of you....

love the show, love you, love zoila. you and andy cohen would have the prettiest babies ever. i love the absence of dapper dan aka jeff's own personal yoko ono.

Hi Jeff, love the show. I love everything you've done. what happened with your boyfriend? Hope things are amicable. Jenni is the best. Love her humor in had a Zoila in my life for 22 years. Raised our kids and still comes in twice a week to help keep our home somewhat clean and orderly. Just keep being yourself and I'm sure Bravo won't have you killed off. I am really excited to get the party started.. Love you guys. L

I thought Interior Therapy was replacing Flipping Out until reading this. I'm happy to hear Flipping Out is coming back. Interior Therapy is way too "nice." It had a tiny spark of what makes Flipping Out so good when Jenni gave you a hard time about something and you said, "yeah well you know what, You work for me..." And then Jenni gets that scared submissive look on her face, LOL... it never gets old for me, but that was a brief moment. Too much focus on the clients, who are not funny, instead of you and your inappropriate behavior with your staff and contractors. And Gage... you know we want to see more of that whole thing... Being the boss of your future live-in husband who is 10 years (is it more?) younger than you... That's what I want more of! Interior Therapy... ehh, kindda boring... and that's only because it focuses too much on these clients. I'm not tuning in to watch Bob and Kira or whatever their names are.

Your talent is amazing. Your wit is unsurpassed. The new show is great and face it Jenni does complete you, LOL. Fans for life in Phoenix.

OMG thank goodness Flipping Out will return as I LOVE watching everyone in that show, especially you. You are just too funny and watching you work is a true art form. Thanks for the update and the additional show.

I like the concept of helping people. But it's hard for me to get excited about a show that is "helping" these very wealthy and super wealthy people who can afford to hire Jeff and/or any designer for whatever whim, design or anything they want. Oh, boo-boo, Mr. Mega Rich with his young trophy wife and his billion-dollar art collection can't part with a stuffed animal and needs a gallery to house his art collection? As much as Mr. L was painted as this great philanthropist, there is not one thing about him and his life and his money that I can relate to at all. Not compelling to me in any way, shape or form. The end designs are great (it's Jeff!) but the stories and the people chosen for his design magic so far...gag me. Also, the quick timeline makes for slap-shoddy work (and way to throw Roberto under the bus last week and make him and contractors in general look like morons - when he was tasked with almost the impossible and his crew worked 24/7). And, the "acting" moments (Jeff in the hot tub w/ the drink) are so contrived and the acting is so visible it's cringe-worthy. I have been a big fan and faithful viewer from episode one.....Love you Jeff, Jenni, and Zoila! This show, not so much.

Love your designs, always. Always brilliant. NOT loving this show. Very contrived, too scripted, no spontaneity. Your blog's explanation as to "why" you are doing this show seems to clarify those very issues I find disappointing as a loyal Flipping Out viewer. But what doesn't make sense is this: if Flipping Out takes so much time and coordination to film, how can adding a second, highly MEDIOCRE show lighten the stressful load?

Loved this episode! I wish we could peek 'behind the scenes' and I hope Bravo continues this show. There should be a reunion show with the families that you've lived/worked with. Your comments were priceless about living large at Lorschland. Love that you wore the LL shirts everyday. Love Bob and Kira and they obviously loved you and Jenni. You and Jenni working together reminds me of the 'old days' - love, love, love it.

Hope you buy the fancy bed. Still waiting for you to cast in the D.C. area...

I've grown to love you on both shows...you're real and sweet and a pain in the arse...just like all of us...keep up the good work...both shows are wonderful!

I loved this show! Wasn't planning on watching it, but I'm so glad that I did! I think this show doesn't need any changes, thought it was great!

I could watch you 24/7, you are fantastic Jeff!!

Don’t listen to the haters, Jeff. It’s great to see you back on Bravo. It is also refreshing to see a show about people helping people. Shows like yours are such a nice departure of those awful Housewives. I am so tired of shows about affluent women behaving badly.

So happy to hear that Flipping Out will return. I watch Interior Therapy b/c I love u guys. I enjoy it & I find it inspiring how ur touching people's lives - especially episode 2, got me a little teary there. My preference is Flipping Out but I'm a fan & I will stick by you, whatever you do. Good luck!

Love you Jeff any way I can get you. Frankly, I am extremely interested in how the show reveals your design aesthetic and your creative process. The more I can learn about trends and how you interpret them, the happier I am. All of the surrounding stuff that makes for good reality TV is entertaining, but I really like your design sensibility and enjoy seeing what you create. I love Jenni because she is quite the rock in your company and great with clients. Of course love that Zoila! All that being said...love this new show and happy you are also doing Flipping Out. Love both.

This format feels really forced and awkward, and Jeff & Jenni are trying too hard. The false sense of urgency and drama ("oh NO!!! we only have a week to complete this project or.... or what? you'll turn into a pumpkin? that skinny mean lady will get really really mad? who cares???) is grating and makes me care about and like the show even less. I suppose it's an excuse for Jeff to pretend to lose it on Jenni, but even that is getting old, no one likes to see Jenni get abused, we enjoy the lighter moments, stuff with the dogs, beating on the contractors, not Jenni, the beautiful remodels. Bring back Flipping Out, Interior Therapy sucks!!!

Jeff, You are hilarious; I would watch you read your grocery list.

Love your new show. Love you, Jenny and Zoila working each week on a different project. Extremely entertaining and full of great design tips.

jeff love the new show. it its exactly why i watch you and jenni and zoila. i want to see you work. i love the magic. who cares if someone is doing #2 in your bathroom at home! i am more interested in your design expertise than your bodily functions. the lorsch gallery was a brilliant idea. BRAVO!

YES - that's what I was hoping! I'm perfectly fine having you on t.v. more! You are sooo funny and I like how you react to who you are helping. The only thing that makes me cringe is how many times you tell Jenny she "works for you" I was so excited on the last season of flipping out when you both were at lunch and you both agreed you're better together...And I love Zoila, but I think she needs to move in with you and Jenny not come at the end. When she comes at the end she seems to feel awkward. The viewers love her, awkward or not though. Last comment, so far the people you've picked to help were totally entertaining. The first couple was hysterical! The second couple were sweethearts.

I love your show and your designs. You might lack tact when dealing with some people but you definitely makeup for in talent. However do you ever do design for the average person it would be nice to see you help out an average family? I know I would love to get help from you.

The show is great!!! The episode where you were spraying everyone with your clients expensive perfume was hilarious!! Hope you didn't get in trouble!! Lol

I love your show and absolutely love your designs. Although you may lack tact when dealing with adults, you makeup for it in your talent in design. However, I was wondering if you ever help the average family? Being an individual from average family it would nice to do a show with average family. I know I would love and need your help with interior design but I would never be able to afford it like most people.
