My mom has really been through a lot with me, so I wanted to make Mother's Day really special for her. I always used to style my mom (without really knowing what styling was) when I was a kid, so to be able to take her shopping and give her a new look was fun. I wanted to her to feel great for the big day -- the meeting of the families. I still do think it is weird that after ten years our families had not met, but it was well worth the wait. I am very close with Gary's family. They have welcomed me into their family with open arms. I feel as if I am their adopted son. I do not take this for granted, because I know that there are a lot of gay and lesbian couples whose families are not as accepting of them, so for me, this is something to be celebrated.
Felicia is an amazing cook! All of her dishes are flawless and are favorites across her entire family. You must, must, must tell the cook, especially if they are Italian, that the dinner was delicious. When I saw that dinner had passed and my mom and sister had not said anything, I thought we might be heading for trouble, so I wanted to give her a heads up. I am glad I did, because it ended up being an extra push for my mom to engage with Felicia. My mom is shy and quiet, so I thought I would help her with that. The day was a huge success and my mom and Felicia talk all the time now. It’s what I had always hoped for!
Hey Brad love your show. I love your Mom and sister. As far as being quiet, it was probably just awkward for them being the first time they had met Gary's parents. Don't be too hard on them. Maybe they didn't want to say the wrong thing. I've been through that situation myself.
I'm looking forward to reading your book. I think you are a very courageous person to put yourself out there like that. Just think, if you can help one person, won't it be worth it?
Brad, I love your show. I am glad you left Rachel's camp and found what works for you. I love Rachel, but her balance between work and personal is a little marred and can be costly. I think this is better for you and you deserve it. You have a lot of wonderful people surrounding and supporting you, you will be successful.
Brad, I love your show! Love you! Love Gary! And,While we can all agree you are a very talented stylist I believe your real gift is opening the minds and hearts of everyone who sees you. I hope that I can be half as loving, smart and courageous with my own children as your Mom has been with you. Take care and best of luck!
Love to watch your show because it seems that you are true to yourself and your relationship and that's important. Your a lot of fun and I hope only good things for you.
I enjoyed you on Rachel's show but love you so much more in your own element with Gary and the pups. I am also building a business so it is interesting to see your struggles in the beginning stages. I can identify. When I finally make it big, I'll be asking you to style me for the red carpet!
I write you every week because I just want to support you. Your candor is wonderful. Love you so much!!!
You have an amazing story, Brad- thank you for sharing it! Love you, the show, your partner, your dogs... L.O.V.E.!!!!
Dear Brad, From the moment you joined the Rachel Zoe program, I've been intrigued by you. Didn't think I would like your new show (because I hate the Zoe show, except for the parts when you were in it) but thought I should at least tape the first episode and give it a try. BREATH OF FRESH AIR! Must be the Canadian thing or ??? You're awesome, your bf Gary is also awesome, and your family, his family, the entire show is just amazing and wonderful. Thanks for delving so deep into your personal story to share with us what makes you uniquely Brad.
I was born a Canadian in America and so completely "get" all your funny comments about our Canadian brethren. So true!!! I love how tender the relationship between you and your mom appears to be. Hope that over time you'll heal up things with your dad, too.
Please keep bringing us more of this great story. Keep showing us how to dress to be seen with style. Shoot, I am clueless! I would love to see you spin off a show where you actually go out and dress ordinary people for a day. Similar to some other shows currently airing, but without all the nastiness. You were so sweet to your mother and gave her practical tips that she could apply immediately to her body and her way of living. BTW, she did look downright fabulous in that orange top you helped her choose. Really set off her pale complexion.
So many thoughts crossing my mind, but the top one is - your show has surprised me in the best of ways. Please keep the language clean (I've noticed a lot less bleeping and I like it!!) because some of us enjoy hearing dialogue rather than all the beeps and bleeps. It also makes you appear more intelligent than some others in your industry.
Brad, I hope you are wildly successful in your career, but please don't ever lose sight of yourself and all those who have loved you. Don't let success ruin these beautiful relationships we've been allowed to peek at. Can't wait to see how the anniversary party turns out!
Like your show, but I think that it would be nice if you thanked Rachel for giving you a start in bussiness. It seems that most of your contacts were from when you were with her.
brad you are brave and i hope that you don't let success and fame pull you away from who you really are and what is important!
I just love your show. You and Gary make such a great couple and I love watching you blossom right before our eyes! I wish you much success and again, I've watched the episodes over and over, it's a great show and you have such a blessed life!
Brad, I love your show! So much fun to watch. I love Gary, and I love the life you two have built together. Thank you for sharing it with us! I look forward to future episodes. I also stongly agree with the other post that said they would love to see a spin off show of you dressing ordinary people. We could all use a little color and Brad in our lives!
I think your show is charming and fresh and planned to catch it regularly but enough with the crying ... I mean I give you credit for being able to cry and not feel inhibited...but it is too too much to watch, Good grief, I actually had to turn the show off.
Brad, You seem like a likable person, but your show is mucho boring. I think you should focus on your career as a stylist and maybe put the TV thing on hold. Bravo has picked a few losers this season (chef roble, tabitha) and yours should be included. Good luck with your career in the fickle world of celebrity, you are going to need it based on what I've seen so far. MS
Never really watched The Rach Zoey project. She just annoyed me. But saw Brad. Cute. Interesting. The complete opposite of me as a gay man. But he had a voice and was interesting. Glad he got his own show. Saw the shows where he went to meet the inlaws. Been there and done that and it was cool. I went through the same with my bf. His Mom was a strong woman who was so quiet around my family. My family was totally accepting but loud and loving. I liked that. More power to him and his partner. Like I said, I am nothing like them, gave up Hollywood for the quiet of Northern CA. But he is interesting, has a point of view, and he has been with his partner longer than Seal and Heidi. Way to go.
Wow! You started as my guilty pleasure but have evolved into an inspiration. I am a gay doctor in dc and celebrated one year clean and sober this past October. I love your style, your humor and whit, but mostly I love your honesty. Thank you for being your true self and having the balls to put it out there for everyone to love, hate, judge and celebrate. Its wonderful to see another gay man celebrate his sobriety and success as the two, I find, are so closely related. Thank you for taking a chance and being vulnerable. Be proud Brad. You deserve your success. A Believer Doc
