As you may have heard, Meghan Markle has a royal wedding to plan. But, when the former Suits actress ties the knot with Prince Harry in the spring, the massive event won't be her first time walking down the aisle. ICYMI: Markle was previously married to producer Trevor Engleson.
But, don't expect the bride to suffer any flashbacks. From what we know about the future duchess' first wedding, the event bore little resemblance to the affairs that go down at Kensington Palace. Here's your first clue: guests at Markle's 2011 wedding would have been perfectly at home in flip-flops.
Markle with her first husband
Markle and Engleson got married at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The idyllic spot has balconies overlooking the sea and Caribbean-inspired decor, and the bride packed outfits to match the tropical vibe.
Photos have surfaced of Markle wearing a yellow string bikini throughout her stay at the resort. And, who can blame her? The couple's wedding-weekend activities were far from formal: think rum cocktails on the beach and sand races galore.
But, though the celebration looked sunny and relaxed, the marriage ultimately dissolved in 2013. While any divorce is sad, the ending of one marriage left Markle free to meet her next special someone. And the rest, as they say, is royal history.
When Markle next walks down the aisle, it will be in front of 800 guests at Windsor Castle. (And, just a guess: she won't be wearing anything that qualifies as "resort wear.") The gathered crowd will include friends and family members, of course, and some members of the public will also be given a coveted ticket to the big event. Mind you: We're not talking about onlookers from the beach, here.
But, we wouldn't rule a return to the beach out of Markle's future: She and Harry still have to settle on a royal honeymoon spot. And, we have a feeling Harry can party on the beach with the best of 'em.
