Khloe Kardashian is in Tokyo for a fabulous babymoon-style trip with sisters Kourtney and Kim — and fans and trolls alike have some feelings about it. But why? Well, the soon-to-be mom is facing backlash on social media for her choice to travel at eight months pregnant, and comments are pouring in from ye olde armchair OB-GYNs.
After the Revenge Body star shared that she was in the Japanese capital, the comments kicked in. “Why would you risk travel during pregnancy??” one curious social media user put forth; another said that opting for air travel so late into a pregnancy is “not too smart.”
But, Khloe’s not the only sister catching heat for taking an international trip.
Some fans commented on Kim’s decision to take a trip with her new baby Chicago at home. “A newborn and kids leaves the country for business!!,” one Facebook user seethed. (That same user may also be angered to know that the Kardashians’ sister Kylie Jenner, who had a baby in early February, has also gone back to work. No one tell the troll!)
We think it’s safe to assume that Khloe has spoken to her own doctor about traveling and any other concerns that pop up during pregnancy. And, with three children, Kim probably has her parenting style down.
But, if you are curious about the possible risks of flying while pregnant, here are a few pointers from the American Pregnancy Association: First off, air travel is fine for women with uncomplicated pregnancies, and may be most comfortable during the second trimester. However, women who are 32 weeks along or farther, and experiencing complications that could result in premature labor, are generally advised to stay grounded until the bambino has arrived.
But, to each mama-to-be her own. No two pregnancies — or trips to Tokyo! — are the same.
