Good Luck Trying to Book a Hotel Room in Windsor for the Royal Wedding Weekend

Everyone had the same idea, it seems.

Kensington Palace announced Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding date on December 15, and as you can imagine, people were excited. As in, booking travel arrangements immediately excited. People are very stoked for the chance to see the royal nuptials take place IRL, and be a part of that very romantic history.

Per the palace's Twitter announcement, the ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 19 in Windsor. Naturally, Windsor hotel rooms are selling out extremely quickly as fans (oh, and actual invitees) plan to flock to the destination located just 20 miles west of London.

According to, 98 percent of Windsor-area hotels are already fully booked for the weekend of May 19 (May 18 - May 20).

People reports that spots within walking distance of the venue — St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle — like Castle Hotel Windsor and Sir Christopher Wren Hotel are also booked. Even hotels an additional 20 miles away have zero rooms available!

Silver lining: Some nearby towns (such as Slough and Aster) have significantly cheaper rates for what's left of their accommodations.

In conclusion, expect slim pickings if you're trying to see Harry and Meghan tie the knot in person. Otherwise, set your alarm for super duper early in the morning on May 19 and prepare to watch the festivities happen on TV.
