There is only one person in the world who could love Kathy more than her groupies and best gays, and that is her mom, Maggie Griffin, who appears regularly in Kathy’s hit Emmy Award winning Bravo series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. Maggie and her late husband, John, raised Kathy in Forest Park, Illinois, where John worked in an electronics store, while Maggie helped raise the children and assisted in the administrative office of a local hospital. During Kathy’s childhood John and Maggie knew they did not have an ordinary child and that their daughter’s untamed spirit and outrageous sense of humor would eventually earn her Hollywood’s spotlight.

This season, Maggie plays the age-card (according to Kathy) and keeps the pressure on her daughter to keep accepting D-List gigs so she can fund her rent at a pricey senior living community in Beverly Hills (again, according to Kathy). Maggie continues to breakout and garners the love of fans worldwide. The 89-year-old even has her own book deal, Tip It, due out in June.

Maggie lives at a posh senior community funded by her daughter, and spends her time dining out, going to the movies and golfing. She could have never predicted back in Forest Park that she would someday be recognized on the street, but she enjoys it and loves being the mom to everyone’s favorite D-lister.
