Usually the producer on a television show is left in the shadows to do their job. Free from the trappings of the camera, we can do all the behind-the-scenes TV stuff without being outed to the viewing public.
But this is not a normal show...it's Kathy's show. And straight from my red headed boss herself, that apparently means I’ve been assigned as the dude parked at the podium right in Kathy’s eye line. I’m not complaining, really, but there is a pinch of pressure having a camera pointed at me for two hours a week with no break. Like Maggie, I might start to live in fear of “the runs” and might need to adjust my bathroom habits before we start to tape (an old word) every week. I’ll deal with that on my own time. It’s not your problem, and these concerns are my own. Please give me some privacy.
Anyway, back to me (the guy with the headset and glasses shaking his head) on the podium. I can deal with questions being hurled at me about anything and everything in front of a live a studio audience by one of the fastest and funniest people on the planet. Sure. Sign me up. But the part that I’m not into is that Andy Cohen apparently thinks I’m the show’s stage manager. WTF. Now no disrespect to stage managers at all, because that job is serious, but that’s not what I do. (I have a vague Liberal Arts B.A. so my options are limited and “television” is what I’m good at.) But then again, Andy isn’t really a TV host, he’s a Bravo executive. Can I say that? I don’t mean that in a bad way. He’s actually working two jobs and I feel his pain. Maybe he’ll empathize and put me on Watch What Happens Live! as a special guest?
LOVED the show I laugh my ass off and I really like your guest panel they are so much funnier than any celebrity would have been.
The show was great, but the theme song was the BEST!!!! I need to hear it again..NOW! It's stuck in my head and I don't know the words.
LOVED the show, it was hysterical. You all are a great fit with Kathy. Her timing & delivery are spot on. And I can't believe Maggie is 95! I'll be tuning in and telling all my friends as well. Mazel Tov!
Loved the show. Just the right amount of stand-up, talk, skits. Kathy is on my schedule for every week. Previously the only "talk show" I watched was Chelsea Lately.
What a great show/concept!!! Kathy's styling is more buttoned up, actually "pretty" and professional. Love the white and light stage design. Not dark and dingy like Andy's set (though I just love Andy as well). But what really knocks me out, is the premise of the show. How great to review the latest in pop media through the direct review of Kathy on a weekly basis! Allbeit the antithysis ofAndy, Kathy will say everything Andy can't say, that we are thinking about each week of Bravo's programming. I can't wait to view this show for years to come...what a brilliant addition to Bravo's machine!!!
I really like the idea of Kathy hosting a talk show but the production value needs to be improved. The format doesn't suit her and I think it constrains her. The set is too small and doesn't make sense. The cameras pan around too much - do we really need to see the back of the audiences head constantly. Also Kathy needs people on her panel that challenge her- apart from the brunette who was pretty funny most of the time it felt like Kathy was talking at her guests. Also the graphics on the large screen don't read well. I don't know what it is but something is missing. Kathy is great but it feels like the format isn't working with her. She needs wither a bigger audience like a Tyra Banks Show or if she is going to be intimate then a format like Andy Cohen show or Fashion Police would be better. When I think of comedians like Kathy I think of Chelsea lately and Joan of Fashion police and those formats allow them to be them. This format is making Kathy too cookie cutter and that she isnt. Overall it's a good show, Kathy is great but the production needs some more work.
Just watched the Saturday morning rerun. Love love loved it. Laughed out loud more than once. Hope this show is a great success.
Sorry, love ya Kathy but this is a cheap knock off of Chelsea Lately. are you that desperate for this attention? I did enjoy the show of course, you are the best and your mom, but don't copy Chelsea, you are better than that, you are the original!
Liked the show, but it won't make it without guests. Please have some guests on your show!!!! Just my opinion.
Kathy, loved your talk show! It was all I expected and more. The dish on celebs is hilarious as always, but loved your three guest panelists, they cracked me up. Can't wait for next week.
Love Kathy but her new show was a bit underwhelming and felt forced. Normally KG makes my single self crack up...laugh out loud. Something is missing. Talk more about your life Kathy! Don't mention things you're not good at...we think you an do it all:)! The theme song is great...but it seems less trendy than expected and not up beat enough...I was thinking it would be a song to fit in on xm station called BPM! That would fit your energy and bravo's energy. Also....she needs her kathy show production assistants to have more of character personalities ( we're used to that on bravo) especially since it follows housewives... You know, I imagined someone like the guy on chelsey handler (came from jay Leno & recently on interior therapy with Jeff Lewis )...excentric,flamboyant, and fun, or loveable like her personal assistants. Your P.A.s seemed out of place..too many segments on them..boring. Didn't like how she was just talking at them the whole show... No need for an awkward shave session. Come on Kathy I'm pulling for you! Love you for years...miss the d list! I sooooooooo want to love your show....especially since Rosie is gone!
agree with Midwest Megan above; except I do love the intro music. I enjoy Kathy-lol...even though the profanity irritates me sometimes-I think she can have all her great wit with a little less. [Also miss the D list.] Kathy's 1st show. Very funny...didn't even mind the shave scene...as allowed Kathy to take a breath allow the funny discomfort of assistants to be the amusement. Hope she becomes a little more relaxed...and allows her quests to develop into lovable characters. Also like that her guests are not celebrities. There is enough of them in guest chairs on the other 120 channels. I'll keep watching.
Good thing you are not complaining lol.. Now as a "talent" you can demand green M&Ms. "I said - GREEN M&Ms!!!"
I am not sure what exactly I did not like about the show, granted it's the first episode and everything... Being Kathy's girl for over a decade now, but the show is missing that Je ne sais quoi that the others consistantly had... I will give it a couple of more tries, even in bed nobody performs without some aawkwardness the first time...
What is the matter with you people. Every other word is the f--- word. There are so many bleeps that there isn't a sentence completed. It is disgusting. I guess I don;t see any humor in this at all. I feel bad for her mother in the' audience it must be embarrassing.
Always like to see Kathy, but the talk show format just doesn't work. She is GREAT doing her stand up shows, but sitting down with audience member as her guest, just doesn't hold your attention. Maybe if she had some celebrity guest or a singing group each week, it might work. Sorry, but I still LOVE KATHY and her MOM.
