Snow White with Razor Blades was the nickname Kelly gave me when I began working at People's Revolution over 5 years ago. It has clearly stuck and is as close to the truth as it gets. I am super sweet, but I expect nothing less than perfection.
I met Kelly eight years ago and she always said, "One day you are going to work with me," and low and behold her foreshadowing became my reality. I am a partner at People's Revolution. There are high expectations, excessive hours, and hard work that come with this title. The question, do I love it and why do I keep doing it?
This will be my 11th fashion week at People's Revolution and my heart is still very much vested and I remain a passionate member of the team. The team this season, however, is a bit questionable. It has given me an extra level of stress, that frankly, I really didn't need to deal with or expect.
After returning from Los Angeles this past August, I came back to a new hire Stephanie Voorhees, who as you can see is a bit of a disaster waiting to happen. She seemed capable in her interview and sold herself a lot better than she is able to deliver. She is there to make my life easier and not more difficult.
I love your bold ness and blunt ness during your blog and look forward to more insight from you during the coming episodes.
I must say i LOVE LOVE LOVE Robyn. I remember the first time i saw Robyn i was drawn by her walk. Its very je ne sais pas...fierce?
Snow White with razor blades carry such an image, funny and deadly. The technology snafu reminds me of my days working as an assistant. You think life couldn't get much worse. But tomorrow is another day. And life goes on. Work hard, but play hard too. 1st episode was fantastic.
Totally fascinated by People’s Revolution show. Can’t get enough of Robyn’s sweet demeanor and beauty, yet, evident laser sharp office manager. If Kelly were my dear baby sister I would not admire and like her any more than I do today. Most touching is Kelly’s fabulous adult-like relationship with her daughter. Bravo TV, bravoooo for the show.
I love your business, it's very well run, you guys do an amazing job dealing with the industry. Snow White With, you are particularly good at what you do. The observation I've made about you having to work with Voorhees is, I think she might have ADHD, in all seriousness. At least, she may want to get screened for it if she wants to work a job like that again. I have it, and I know several professionals with it who do very well in their jobs, and I don't just "see ADHD" everywhere...in fact I haven't ever seen anyone else on TV who I thought had it...her comments about needing training rather than just diving in, sink or swim; about being overwhelmed to the point of crying; saying she's doing 110 things at once, yet never accomplishing anything completely; asking questions others think she should be able to answer herself; constant mistakes...if she does have it, I wish she could have gotten help before this.
Really interesting post to read it in my opinion. By the way, why don't you submit this post to social bookmarks? This can bring pretty big traffic to this blog.
Um, are you sure it was technology? Because it sure seemed like simple user error, compounded by the incredible amounts of stress you heap onto assistants by giving them too much to do. If they had any breathing space, they might have figured out what the problem was instead of going into freak out mode and low-fi solutions.
Truly interesting site to read it to my thinking. The only question I have, why haven't you you submit that post to social media? It can bring rather big traffic to this blog.
