Wanna buy some cookies? This line from the Corky Romano movie came into my head as I watched myself on tonight's episode shoving cookies into my face while Andrew Serrano was in the midst of his breakdown. Yes, it may seem a little insensitive that I burst out laughing while he was crying and the bronzer was running down his face, but you must know at this point I was out of emotions as I had been through them all. I had many meltdowns throughout fashion week with technology problems, being overwhelmed, and lack of sleep. And Andrew, I am still sorry for laughing at your time in need, but you have to admit it was pretty funny looking back at that moment.
While the Senior team was away in London we were still really busy in the New York office and although we were told we could leave early - I can not leave the office or my desk unless I feel like I am in a good place work-wise. I had interns glaring at me for keeping them there so long, but at the end of the day there is a job that needs to be done and at this point who else was going to do it? This brings me to my next venture with Andrew Mukamal - first, I would just like to say that he is starting to bring the balance into my life of realizing that no matter what the work is always going to be here and Im trying to teach him that although the work will always be here, it still needs to get done. The fear of the phone call -- really does look insane, but it is true. At the end of the day as assistants and junior staff in the office we have a job to support the senior team no matter what time of day or night it may be. With time differences while they are overseas when they call we are expected to answer and do whichever task it is that is needed because that is our job.
OMG, Kell is so lucky to have you. Youre so dedicated and beautiful. Good luck with everything, I know you will be an amazing PR Exec!
Everyone told me I was paranoid about Twitter and Facebook. You just proved them wrong! Eventually, it ends up causing complications be they at work or in personal relationships.
I truly admire your dedication to your job! I'm so glad you guys got rid of those two nimwits! It was sooo painful to watch that girl literally stuggle to put stamps on some darn envelopes! My 13 month old nephew couldve probably done so with his eyes closed at that!
Stephanie, I hate to say it but your ego got in the way on this one. The girl was a great fit, however, you knew that......and didn't want anyone to show you up. From the moment the new girl left, you were set out to find something wrong with her......it showed with your excitement to call her and to give her the bad news. I come from a high stressful field (litigation) with very high level confidential information that we deal with on a daily basis, so I know what you are dealing with. On the other hand, I know insecurity when I see it.....and it showed all over your face. In today's world, twittering/facebook is more common then it was a few years ago. It is not as taboo as it once was. We use twitter/facebook in the legal field as do you for bravo. You may want to provide the ground rules first, prior to hiring/firing
you are a winner skinner! it shows in your dedication and desire. i loved how you pin pointed to the exact moment you realized you wanted to be in fashion PR -- a clip form Sex & the City...keep up the good work.
Stefanie, I loved you on this episode! Props to you for finding that information on Twitter....that is something that could have potentially caused your company a lot of headaches in the future. I am sure Kelly respected the fact that you are protecting the confidentiality that is so important in your line of work. I also loved the balance Mukamal is bringing to your life! Ur great-- keep it up!!! I am an IMG volunteer and during all of Fashion Week I think I had one meal and I came back to Cleveland exhausted and covered in bruises! : ) Viva La Fashion.
Theresa N. - What the h???
Stephanie has no time for drama and turf protecting. She's obviously a valuable employee because few would survive that long at People's Revolution under those circumstances.
She "gets it." If you can't keep your mouth shut and protect confidences then you have no business being in PR.
And, Stephanie, I too was giggling when Andrew's bronzer was running. No need to apologize. Everyone's had the over-tired giggles.
I have to agree..Theresa F - seriously ??? Stephanie did not show any insecurity. Her gut told her that something was wrong and obviously we don't see exactly what tipped her off but she was right. The little Miss perfect was a puppet...she put on a show but could have seriously damaged privacy issues with big clients and close down thier business. Kudos to the staff for handling an unpleasant task of anyone in a managerial position.
I don't quite get how her tweeting that she was excited about being offered the job at People's Revolution has anything to do with confidentiality unless she was tweeting specific information about things she learned in the interview that are in fact confidential. Tweeting about getting a job is no different than updating a LinkedIn profile. I would assume that to succeed in PR you need to be able to get a message out there, so tweeting in and of itself should not be a reason to not hire someone. In fact, I see that you tweet yourself, what up with that?
Thank you Viewer X for that! You are so right. The possible new employee had tweeted nothing that was exposing confidential information about the company. In fact......Stephanie blogs on Bravo, the entire world is blogging/tweeting. The corp law firm that I work at has all of us blogging/tweeting....it's free pr!! From the beginning....it showed that Stephanie didn't like her. Everyone was talking about how the new girl knew so much.....and was a great pick! Well, we saw what happened....she fired her. Too much of a good thing would have probably over shadowed Stephanie and would have shown the public/t.v. audience that Stephanie really can't keep up. Stephanie constantly complains about how much work she has, yada yada yada! Those type of people are always the ones that want to look busy and sound busy, but she really can't keep up and it shows on tv!! Stephanie is from from being capable or professional!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU! I think your the rite amount of Worker & Humanity. Your a strong working girl that's not an idiot and can get to business. But also identifiable because you can admit when your overworked and stressed other then taking it out and lashing at someone else.
Your my FAV!
Or anyone out there... Do you know what the designer is for the white dress promoting the london fashion week episode? They only show a second clip of it and I am obsessed with the dress! It's a wedding white silk cocktail dress that pouf's out at the hips. It was not shown in the last episode but only in the commercials promoting it. PLEASE HELP!
Ok, I am going to be a little more professional with my comment about Stephanie Skinner. I see everyone talking about what a wonderful employee she is but the fact of the matter is, she doesn't want what is best for People's Revolution, only for herself. It shows that she does not want anyone to show her up. You see that with how happy she was when Stephanie Voorhees was fired. She was dancing around like it was a victory for her. All I have to say is Karma. It always come back to bite you.
I love the gold link hairband you wear on the show. Can you tell me where you got it? It's hard to find a fashionable yet functional way to deal with hair.
Skinner - I agree with you. No one should be tweeting or fb'ing anything work related. As my former boss did, and as I do now, I research anyone and can dig up info very easily before hiring or interviewing with someone.
At ViewerX and Theresa N. - That girl Virginia was rightly fired before starting her first day. If you caught a glimpse of her last name on the episode, look her up - the blabbermouth still blabs on her twit account about everything. She won't learn, and Skinner and the rest of the crew forecasted correctly.
How come only 2 episodes have been uploaded. And its already episode 4 now? The first two were put on the side a few days after and its been over a week and episode 3 & 4 hasn't been put up yet...
The girl was tweeting that she got a job with a pr firm. The pr firm that broadcasts itself on national tv!!! um... and the problem is??? Stephanie was a real tool on that one.
I really think what Stefanie did with the employee that they had hired was totally out of place. I think she was feeling threatned by this young woman experience and capabilities to do a good job. I just want to say, what goes around comes around. Stefanie, you need to remember, whatever you to do somebody, if it is mean, will come back to you, eventually. Just try to change that type of mentality of "me, me, me".
the only thing wrong with the self termination of stephanie v. was that it did not happen sooner. this young woman was truly a master of angst filled hand wringing while getting absolutely nothing done. even in delegating her responsibilites, she did no follow up to make sure that projects were being done properly and in a timely fashion. she was in over her head for lists and mailings? c'mon.
Hi everyone- in reading your comments I just wanted to clear something up for you all. The girl, Virgina, was hired for an intern position- not as an assistant. I did not even interview her, nor was I threatened by someone with a five page resume- interviewing for an internship position. The reason why she was fired is because she was told in her interview that twittering and/or blogging about the company would result in termination. She knew this from the beginning and did not follow policy and that is why we fired her. It was not a cruel intention or a fear of her "showing" me up- it was lack of being professional on her end.
To everyone else thank you for your support and Im so happy everyone is loving the show.
I think that Skinner was going with her gut feeling... and I bet Kelly would have done the same! I mean, the senior staff was gone... trusting them to make the right decision. Ultimately, Skinner felt that something was off with the new hire and made one! Having good intuition is an important attribute for someone in this business- and definitely important if working for Kelly Cutrone!
I was embarassed for you with the whole Tweeting thing. You were practically giddy when you called this poor girl and told her she didn't have the job. Why exactly? Because she Tweeted about how excited she was to be interviewing with the company, that she got the job?! Since when is that a bad thing? I think you just got a little power hungry and enjoyed being in a position to tell someone they did something wrong and they couldn't have a job. It's ok if someone doesn't work out, but if you're sitting there ENJOYING breaking bad news to them, you're the one with the problem here. You have potential to be a strong person in this company, but you need to grow up. You can be strong and still empathetic. That girl didn't do anything to deserve to get turned down for the job, and you know it.
Lay off Steph and People's Revolution they did what they thought was right about the whole Virginia Tweet issue yes they have a reality show but remember a lot of it gets edited and viewers don't see clients private information out in the show you only see the drama in their work area. So may this be a lesson to those that can't keep their own private life for themselves to keep your work place information to yourself no matter how excited you are about getting a job or a promotion just keep it to yourself.
your generation could learn alot from you- you work hard and do what it takes to get the job done for the good of all; you are on your way 2 success for sure. kell, this girl deserves a 3 night vacay!
So I'm sitting at my desk in my current job and although I'm thankful to have a job in this economy...I'm bored out of my mind..I mean obviously things aren't going so great when I have the time to read BravoTv Kell on Earth blogs. At any rate I just wanted to say THANK YOU for finally showing what dedication means. When I started in my position five years ago I felt the same way. Now I'm left hungry and wanting. When I see the show, you remind me so much of me and it gives me hope that I will find a job like that makes me feel that passionate again. You work hard, you get things done, and you manage to stay sane...what else could a company ask for? With regard to the Tweet issue...you were right to call her up and kudos for your politeness. She obviously didn't have the common sense, class, or maturity to be working there in the first place. Enough of my rant...I just felt compelled to tell you that you rock and have given a hungry San Francisco girl hope that someone will give me a chance to prove my abilities...where there's a will, there's always a way!
Hi there Stephanie, You are so sweet, love your work ethic. And you are working with strong minded hard working woman. Your in a good place. Yes, it can be hard at times. But your learning from the best!!
This girl was tweeting about being part of the cast and about the camera crew so THAT was foul and Skinner did the right thing. Everyone else just wants to try to find an underdog to sympathize with. Get over it.
TIP from someone who has been working for 35 years-if you are afraid of getting a call from the absent boss(s) - they mainly scream and hollar because they are afraid you are un reachable and need some answer to some dumb queston, so, Call them first and let them know you will be stepping out of the office for an hour or two and if they want to call your cell. works everytime
You have such a great work ethic, that office would fall apart without you. Keep your head up, you're doing great! Disregard Emily, she's a bitch and on a power trip.
