Behold 18 Gorgeous Looks From Kate Middleton's $50,000 Traveling Wardrobe

The Duchess of Cambridge looked impeccable at every stop along the way, naturally.

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge hit up India and Bhutan in a much-publicized whirlwind tour — and their trip provided us with some stellar sightseeing of our own, thanks to Kate Middleton's parade of gorgeous outfits.

Sources say Kate did 18 outfit changes, wore 40 different designers, and spent $50,000 on her outfits for this week-long holiday. It should surprise no one that she managed to look perfectly sleek and put together in dresses that were not only culturally appropriate but completely in style. (Clearly, no sweatpants in the airport for Kate.)

She wore designers like Alexander McQueen, Prada, Alice Temperley, and Jenny Packham while she met celebrities and played cricket for photo opps.

Let’s break down the best looks for each stop along the way — and toss in some travel tips to boot, for those who would follow in Kate's glam royal footsteps.

Taj Mahal, Agra
Kate wore Naeem Khan to visit the greatest attraction in all of India... and couldn’t have looked better. This was an especially touching moment for William, who was following in his mother’s footsteps

Jet Set pro tip for travelers: When in Agra, stay at the ultra-luxurious Oberoi. Book a suite facing the Taj Mahal and sit back by your bay window while your personal butler takes care of your every need — starting with serving you tea in a silver cup. We say stay in this glamorous hotel as long as you possibly can. It’s one of the best in the world. India does “royal” well with it’s palaces and jewels, so you will not be disappointed here.

New Delhi
Kate wore a lace Temperley dress which she altered to make more modest when meeting India’s prime minister, Modi and another Temperley look during the birthday celebration for the Queen.

Kate and William weren’t in Delhi long and spent time volunteering with children.

Jet Set pro tip for travelers: If you come to Delhi on your own version of a royal trip, make sure to stay at the Leela Palace, shop the Chandi Chowk market, and eat at Bukhara — which is possibly India’s most famous restaurant.

Kaziranga, Assam
A seriously cool move from the royals, as they headed to one of the lesser-visited regions, Assam. Kate kept it simple with a RM Williams button up and Zara trousers for her safari look while they learned about conservation of wildlife in the area. Later, she changed it up: It seems a Top Shop dress is the way to go when royalty feeds elephants. Now we know.

Jet Set pro tip for travelers: Kaziranga is home to the last remaining Indian one-horn rhinos who are sadly poached for their horns for medicinal use.

Want to take the same safari? Kaziranga isn’t far from the Guwahati airport, where you would fly in (unless you had a private helicopter). They stayed at a jungle resort! (Yes, even royals sometimes “camp.") Two things not to miss: traditional Bihu tribal dance and trying an Assamese thali for dinner.

Mumbai
Kate had some of her very best looks while in Mumbai, the couple's first stop. Way too glamorous for jet lag, Kate got off the plane looking fresh as a daisy in a red Alexander McQueen dress.

Love the dress Kate wore playing cricket? Well, us mortals can’t have it. It was specially made for Kate by Indian designer Anita Dongre.

While visiting India Gate, one of Mumbai’s main tourist sites, she wore an Emilia Wickstead white dress. At one point it flew up a bit... which landed her front page on the Indian news for having a “Marilyn” moment.

Jet Set pro tip for travelers: While they stayed at the most famous hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace in Colaba district, you could choose the smaller and more boutique Abode Hotel in the same area if you wanted more privacy. Book at table at The Table in Colaba for the best food, and shop at Bungalow 8 and Freedom Tree.
Mumbai is said to be one of the most difficult places to travel because of the extremely high population, heat, and traffic. Take time out from traditional sightseeing to try Birdsong Cafe in Bandra, catching a movie at one of the art deco cinemas like Liberty Theatre, and relaxing at the ultimate Mumbai spa destination: L’occitane Spa la Vie.
